Test Pipes?

Test Pipes?
Hi guys,
I've searched and read about this quite a bit but there weren't really any solid answers or anything. So I was thinking about getting Test Pipes from FI, but it seems like the majority of people has gone with HFCs, don't test pipes give better gains?
I also do not have solid answers on how test pipes would sound, drones, rasp, Really really really loud? I can't find anyone actually with the second gen sedan with test pipes. Any help is appreciated.
You think it'll sound nice with stock exhaust? I just really like the way the stock exhaust sounds, just want it to be meaner, i like Nissan's signature V6 sound.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it here too. Test pipes are a mixed bag. It will give addt'l performance over HFCs, but it will pollute like hell and it will stain your bumper. I had test pipes on my Maxima a long time ago and it was a PITA to constantly wash the stain off the rear bumper. It's not just some exhaust dust that comes off easily. You have to rub it hard to really get the stain off (not good at all for your paint).
With HFCs giving noticeable improvements in performance, why even mess w/ test pipes unless you going to the track all the itme or you plan on running leaded gas.

Really? I've only seen stained bumpers on cars because of their mufflers, I just thought test pipes would be nice because more power for much less, hfcs go for 500+ while i can get test plus for around 230. My friend runs test pipes on a 335i and no stains on his car.
I'm just really want more input on the sound of test pipes compared to hfcs.

I was also interested in doing the same thing awhile back. Test Pipes on stock exhaust. Interested to know what you decide to go with. What swayed my decision to get the FI exhaust only (for now) was an M3 I came across on the freeway. I thought at first I heard a chopper (bike) but since I didn't see any bikes on the road I realized it was the M3. It was annoyingly loud and sounded like a harley (but not quite as nice). I pulled up right behind him and he would "gun it" I could smell the exhaust really badly. Being that we live in Cali, Nor cal especially I don't see him lasting more then a few days maybe weeks if lucky before he gets poped by CHP or the locals. Oh yeah, I was finally able to pull up along side of him and did confirm with the owner that he had test pipes just like I assumed. Test Pipes = more power then h.f.c but at a price. Price = loud, annoyingly loud and if you live in a smog restricted state, a ticket and visit to state referee. Anyone can correct me if i'm wrong. Hope this helps.

Hey thanks a lot, yeah from what i'm hearing it also depends on the rest of the exhaust and engine as well, My friend's 335i has straights and it does smell bad when he guns it while i'm behind him but it's not that loud, I really hope there is someone on this forum that has done this and can help out.
