Looks like an awesome intake although I could never justify spending that kind of money for looks since I can't use the power the car has now for street driving (which is all I do, I don't go to the track).
Very impressive looking though. It would be nice to have the sound and possibly a bit extra power but heck I get in enough trouble now. I have been stopped 3 times in the last 12 months for speeding and fortunately the Officer let me go each time. If I had the intake I would constantly be getting her on to hear the intake growl and I really don't want to attract any more attention or any speeding tickets.

LOL...
Wayne, I love reading how you talk yourself out of mods
No drop.. no intake...
What won't you be doing next?

Honestly, I admire your persistence. These knuckleheads here have me spending money faster than I can make it... I need a new place to hang out.

LOL , thanks Scott. I am extremely happy the way the X is now (although it would be awesome to do some of these mods). I just have to get the rear lip spoiler installed. Other than that it will stay the same.
I have other things to spend my money on (vacations, boats, fishing, travelling, and once in a blue moon: house mods ) You must remember I retired 7 years ago so the cash doesn't flow as readily.

Cmon Wayne!! lets add a lil growl to your G~!~!~! ROAR!!!!

No speeding required! We'll just "improve" your 0 60km/h off the stop light and your 0 to 100km/h on the onramp of the freeway!

Busted 3x already!?? WOW! lol I have never been busted so far.. *crosses fingers* and my car is pretty loud with the stillens!! hehe

Wayne has a lot of self control Scott.. unlike us... haha

Whats the word on the drop? hehe You know what...the more time passes.. the mod bug for a drop is beginning to burn itself out. I am beginning to appreciate how the car looks as is.

I seem to be having more interest in other mods lately... * as u can see, we are in an intakes thread * lol

I want a drop (prefer the Impuls), an intake, and a cross-strut bar.
I'd love to have it all done before the big meet at Orange County Choppers in June, but I doubt I'll be able to get it all in by then... my money tree doesn't seem to be providing much fruit lately.

Very hot indeed. After coming home from work yesterday, ambient temperatures of 85 degrees, i measured my rotor temps again (different project altogether).

For kicks, i opened up the hood and measured the OEM airbox where the filter resides and the tube immediately above it.

Guess what? The readings were pretty close to each other. Rotor temp was at 170 degrees, the airbox was in the 150-160 range.

Well I know it's very hot under the hood, however, If i remember correctly from high school physics, air is a very bad insulator and so does not conduct heat very well, when you are moving and sucking in air through the intakes the air is going through the pipe so fast does it even get hot? I'm sure filters like mine would actually suck in hot air, but saying that it would get hot from the pipes being hot I want to know how much that is true.

Plus, the air under the hood won't always be that high of a temperature. When the car is moving, the stock intake tubing behind the grill provides some cool air inside the engine bay, and a lot of the hot air is circulated out through venting.

I subscribe to the idea that intake tract temperatures have no bearing to actual air temperature passing through it. Unlike manifolds, i find it silly heat-wrapping intake tubes in an effort to cool it down. It may work in extreme conditions, but for daily drivers? I doubt it. I wish my heat probe was still working, it would be nice to measure the air temperature as it's flowing inside the airbox, or the engine bay for that matter.
