Strange Clutch Problem

I have a 2007 G35 Sport 6MT, I've had it for a couple months now, haven't pushed it very hard, I've done a couple small burnouts (15-20 feet) and that's it. Anyways, a couple hours ago I went to grab some food with my friend and I wanted to do a quick burnout, so I revved it up to around 5,000 and let out on the clutch real fast, the engine speed stayed up, the car moved forward a little bit, but the wheels did not spin, I guess the clutch slipped really bad? It smelled terrible.

My question is why did this happen and how bad is it? I've done this plenty of times in a number of different cars and I've never had anything CLOSE to this happen, so I'm kind of angry at myself AND the car. I let it cool off for about 30 minutes after this and then drove it home and noticed that the clutch was catching at a slightly different location and as a result the car was shuddering getting into 1st gear most of the time. I'm freaking out because I know the clutch isn't covered under warranty and I don't have that kind of free cash right now and I'm just angry at myself for being an idiot.

P.S._I have 21,000 miles, thanks!

u glazed the clutch a little, now its chattering.

its all normal, to a point,

the clutch is designed to slip, this time it was just easer for the power to slip the clutch then the tires.

so long story short, if it does it again. let off the gas right away.

did u shorten ur clutch life, yes... but its not going to die tomorrow, or next week.

the chatter will go away after u use the clutch normally for a few hundred miles.

i would not be worried about it,,, unless it starts doing it every day, then take it in.

next time try letting the clutch out at around 3500, not 5k. then once it fully engages then hammer it. just watch the wheel hop on the lower engagement.
ull have less of a change of slipping the clutch at the lower rpm.

Same exact thing happened to me once. My car was around 23K miles and did the same thing you experienced. I have not tried a burn out since and the clutch feels fine 5K miles later. I guess these clutches are not made like the rest huh? I agree with you, I've never had a car whose clutch acted like that either and I've had quite a few manuals.

have ur other sticks had 300 crank HP, weighed over 3600 lbs, been RWD and had very sticky tires?

because that all affects this.

the clutch in a fwd 4 banger doesn't see any where near the stress this clutch sees, thats all

Why are you launching at 5k in the first place? Is there a benefit to launching so high?

I wasn't trying to launch, I was trying to do a little burn out, I was revved that high so that I could easily break traction on the back wheels, or so I thought...

def way too high, wouldn't recommend it unless you had a racing clutch and pressure plate.
