Ultimate list of engine problems?

I just read a scary thread in this subforum where the engine dies randomly.

granted, these are modded.

but has anyone had any problems with their 100% STOCK engine?

or are these dead engines rare? man, how can engine parts be falling off. Are the Nissan factory workers drunk on too much sake?

Nissan's VQ engine has been an award winning engine for like 15 years in a row... they are solid engines... They are not always perfect and have had some bad engines but it is in no way, a common occurrance.

The stock HR block is very strong and very rare to break, the 2 cases that had engine problem were both modified and one was confirmed to have been caused by an aftermarket part in Suby's case thus he had to pay 14k out of pocket(feel for you man )

The second case of uga is not clear yet and is said to be caused by his CAI that i doubt, but we'll see...

ON the other hand check out all the stock and even other modified engines such as Terry's TT and many 350Z HR turbos and supercharged, these engines handle power and abuse well as long as its done right and yes there are one in a few hundred that might actually be "bad" engines.

+1 and usually the "bad" engine is a manufacturing defect, not a design flaw

Much like an VQ's i've had in the past and currently do, the HR variant is one helluva engine. You can beat on it all day and it'll just look back at you and say "Have you started yet?"
