Throttle Body Help Close to Stripping Bolt

Hey guys,

I have a quick question that I can't see to find the answer to. When I was in the process of installing my grounding kit, I came pretty close to stripping one of the bolts for the throttle body (the hex bolt on the top of the body). I just went all around to all my local hardware stores and nobody seems to have anything close to the throttle bolt. The only thing I was able to gather is that it was metric . I also havent had much luck with any on my searches online. The reason for me even bringing all this up is because I have an R2C intake on the way and I don't think it will be able to make the install or feel safe to for that matter.

Posted a picture just in case if my explanation isnt very clear on which bolt it may be.

That looks like around M5. We have a bunch in our shop. If you lived near me I'd say come and I give you a load of them. But unfortunatelly that is not the case.

You should be able to find some at the home depot. Make sure you use the right size of the Allen key for that.

I used a 5 mm Allen wrench which was listed on Black Bettys install. This should be the correct key for the job right? I tried going to 2 different home depots around my area with no luck at all. I think I should give Infiniti a visit tomorrow and see if they have anything was trying to avoid going through them.

why were you trying to avoid it? just call thier part department directly and ask for an 07-08 sedan throttle body hex bolt. if your super parinoid about Infiniti voiding your warranty for changing out a Throttle body Bolt then pay cash and give no names

Its like you can read my mind Austin. I think I will go that route with no names and cash. I don't know what I am going through all that anyhow over the bolt. The intake will be in a few days later anyhow so I guess it is pretty pointless going through all that to begin with to keep the warranty

LOL i knew that was the exact reason. intake and Exhaust dont void your warranty, you shouldnt have to mess with that bolt when installing your intake anyway. the throttle body doesnt get replaced.

Oh, I thought that both intake and exhaust did void the warranty. That puts a big smile on my face! Now I really can't wait to setup the intake

Be careful with that statement. it does not void the warranty UNLESS Infiniti can prove that the Intake or Exhaust caused the failure of whatever is being claimed.

Ex. they cannot blame failed weatherstripping on your new Exhaust or intake because it has nothing to do with it!

Oh yeah I knew that, I just thought anything engine related I would end up with "well as a result of your intake" as a reason. I accually just came back from infiniti and oddly enough they did not have anything available. In fact from MA they needed to get some bolts shipped out from Cali. I found it a bit odd that they would not carry a simple bolt but anyhow I picked up the new bolts and it came to around $10 shipped.
