RPM shift light.

..One thing we lost on the 2nd Gen 6MT is the REV shift light.

It's no biggie for everyday driving,
but a shift light sure is nice on the track. (eyes up)

...Has anyone installed the KPierson shift light module????

Ian, I've been thinking about this for a while now.
Can I hook up a light to my 5AT so that it lights up at a pre-determined RPM?
Will this module do that for me?

Yes it will, this a universal module.
All you need is a linear tack signal.

...more info here http://www.kptechnologies.com/products.php#/15

I was thinking about making a custom cap to sit on top of the Instrument pod,
if I can find a way to route the wires cleanly.

I think it is a good idea if you track your G as well but your biggest issue like you said is definitely going to be trying to find a way to cleanly install the module. I wonder if there is a way you would set it up to be on top of the instrument panel but not on top of the dash. Kind of hard to explain, I hope you know what I mean. However I don't know how you would be able to run it through the plastic for the gauges.

I made a post a while ago about this module, and where to tap the signal. One or two members responded, but I wasn't too keen on tapping into the wiring in the engine bay for the signal, so I shelved the idea for the time being.

I'd still love to have this, as I hate having to look down at the tach in order to shift while in M mode.

I was thinking more on the lines of having the light on the left side pillar, where people mount their gauge pods.
If it's bright enough, the corner of your eye will catch it just fine.

That's where I was going to mount it too. Just tapping the signal was the problem

My STi had one with adjustable RPM setting, also made an audible noise if you wanted it as well.... man that was real handy with a 6MT. When I test drove that car the salesperson thought it came on to help with econo-shifting... we'll it wasnt, it was manually set I later found out. I've seen cars with that too, but not the STi, lol.

I'm not sure I would need it for this AT tho, shifts don't seem to surprise me as much as they did with that car. Plus if I am in those situations the auto mode does good enough if not better to react....... It might not be a need item, but would still be kewl to have

I hit 200 Million, I'm buying 50 sets of wheels and handing them out to my friends here like candy.
Wait for it... it's gonna happen.

Me too....
I have an electronics tech that works for me,
but I still hate tapping into OE the wiring harness.

I wish there was a terminal were this could be picked up.

For guys who drive around a lot in M mode, I think this is a necessity rather than an option. I've gone past redline more times than I can count lol.
