Yes Q8. I mistaken that TT with SC because this topic is about SC. I realized it later but didn't tell you so you could post some chart here for us

I'm still hoping that SC stage 2 could bring us some where close to 500whp. I can't wait to see G35 whoop Z06 asses. (sorry to muscle cars lovers here :P)

SC cars are not as fast as Turbocharged cars with the same power. But SC engines are more reliable. SCs tend to be less reliable than turbos but in return, less heat build up and less agressive boost spanks to the engine. I'm a turbo lover but for G35 I will choose centrifugal SC (Rotrex) over TT.

You also have to remember that the shape of the power and torque curves are just as important as the peak horsepower numbers themselves. and the SC definitely has broader and flatter torque curve which should provide better driveability and faster response during real world driving situations. And, since my G is an everyday driver, this is the main reason I decided to go with a SC over TT.

I'm confused, is it more, or less reliable? Or are you saying that the engine is more reliable when SC'd, but that the SC system by itself is less reliable than the Turbo?

I've been looking forward to GTM and Stillen's SC offerings for the G for drivability (as already posted) and always thought Turbo's were more reliable in the long-run as i can keep them from spooling in normal daily driving. Or am i looking at this the wrong way?

Take a look at GTM's video of the 370Z with the telemetry system hooked up. Driving normally at low load (and up to 3.5K or something) boost never goes positive. Always stays in vacuum or very close to zero. Driving normally it's just as reliable as an N/A VQ with much more power available when you need it.
Another cool thing about SC's is you can run the stock exhaust system without noticeably limiting power or "suffocating" any turbos. This makes it even more of a sleeper and brings less attention to cops.

Yes, you got the right idea. Engines those are SCed are more reliable than Turbocharged. Back in the days when turbos are only available with journal bearings, SCs have longer life time than Turbos. However, nowadays turbos have ball bearings which can withstand the turbo cook problem. Until now I haven't heard any drawback from ball bearing turbo yet. I have no experience with Rotrex SC but conventional SCs are less reliable than "modern" turbos.

Yeah, SC suite daily drive more than turbo. But it can never give us the feeling of a big turbo spool. Honestly, I miss my 2.4L turbo Spyder so much. When the T3/T4 60trim turbo spools, it feels like another I-4 engine just added to my car.

Ok, short, daily drive and smooth acceleration = supercharged. Track cars, aggressive acceleration, "go WOW" cars = BIG turbocharged.

Modern factory turbo'd cars have smooth acceleration out of the box. My old 3's spool was so quick (due to their small size) that boost was very linear and progressive

Turbo'ed HR/VHR's spooled pretty quick too. Look at Christian's videos and a few other people on YT. They drive much like stock with no lag but with loads more power.

Stock turbo cars have early turbo spool because of the manufacturer wants it to be like that. It is because of the tuning also. Those turbos which come with the cars are relatively small compare to modified cars.
Turboed VQs has smooth acceleration because the twin turbo setup is only tuned at 8-10psi which is considered low boost. A pair of GT28RS will provide 8psi of boost very very quick. If anyone wants to experience the thrill of big turbo spool, try something like single turbo setup with GT50 turbo or even bigger turbo. I bet anyone who had experience the power of a big turbo spool will never forget it and there is nothing can compare to that thrill feeling.

^^ All true. I've been in 400-500awhp Evo's with huge single turbo's. Although they lag, once the boost kicks in, omfg! lol
