Stillen Intake Kits vs. Others

Hey there,

I drive a [B]2007 G35 Sedan[B] and found out that Stillen Offers 3 Generations of intakes for the 07+ VQ35HR:

Gen 1 - Short Tube Dual Intake Kit - Price $ 260
(http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=STIDHIFLW01&c=PE)

Gen 2 - Long Tube Dual Intake Kit - Price $ 351
(http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...W02&c=PE&m=all)

Gen 3 - Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake Kit - Price $ 500
(http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...W03&c=PE&m=all)

The Gen 2 looks good. Can any of you please tell we how different is each one in terms of performance.

Also is there any other good intakes that are currently availabe for the 07+ Infiniti G35 Sedan (VQ35HR) which are good in terms of price vs. quality.

GEN 2 is the one you would want to go with.
i had GEN 1 and there is more power from GEN 2 which is what i have now.
and the GEN 3 some people had problems with water issues and also the install is a pain you need to remove your bumper and cut your car to make it fit. which is not for me. and the GEN 1+ 2 both install in minutes.

Where did you hear that someone had problems with water w/ the gen 3?
Also the install is not that bad.. you are not cutting anything important just enlarging a plastic hole in the core support. Not that bad IMO.. but I have to admit the fitment is not perfect. You have to mess w/ it a lil bit to make it fit properly.

Actually i was extremely worried when I had to drive in the rain for first time..but no issues at all as far as water..
cutting was not bad at all if you have good dremel
firment was little pain..also i extended my shield a bit to cover more of the filter..
but it sounds sweet once you step on it...

If your'e considering the gen3, you may as well consider the Injen too as there's no cutting involved.

I have the gen2 (got as a present), and it suits me fine.

I'm very interested in Stillen Gen 2.

I wanna know how much hp does it usually add on a stock 07 G35 (VQ35HR) and does it get hot quickly and have a loud noise.

It sounds great at higher rpm and when you get on it. Normal cruising speed/rpm you won't hear it.

As far as HP, don't expect more than 5, which you won't even feel anyway. You are basically buying it for (1) the reusable air filters, and (2) the sound.

IIRC, the gen 2 were actually decreasing low-end power & torque on our G's just like Fujita and some other brands. To my knowledge, there are only couple of options which include the Stillen Gen 3, INJEN, etc. that have actually produced dyno proven power.

If I were you, I'd either go w/ the Stillen Gen 3 or the INJEN unless you are not looking for more power and looking for just better sound & aesthetics.

I vote for Injen short ram intake instead of the GEN2 stillen or R2C, at least engine got a long history in making good intake kits, just my POV, Injen SRI all the way.

I have just installed Stillen Gen2 Intakes on my car. They improved performance and I got the dyno results to prove it. The sound at higher rev's is addictive.
