I've done swaps in cheaper cars. It is never really easy or cheap. To do it from a parts counter, part by part, is eye popping expensive. The only way to do it well and reasonably priced is to have a doner car. But, if you could get your hands on manual tranny cars, wrecked or otherwise, you wouldn't be in this situation.

Bottom line... Buy something else. Something with better aftermarket support.

lol, thanks mike for pointing out my lack of english reading skills

OP - just like another member posted, perhaps it might be cheaper for you to import an MT? if the parts + labor to convert into an MT = importing an MT, might as well import one right? sorry i am not offering much help to you in terms of parts needed, but good luck

Do the reverse lights need wire soldering and such or is it plug and play with the TCU and harness?
I remember I had to help a friend swap a manual in his auto E30 and we had to cut and solder wires for it.

Also, I think the 6MT has a different driveshaft. You'll also need the hand brake assembly and lines, the gauge cluster may need to be replaced since the 5AT says if you are in D, DS or M mode. you might also need a transmission mount.

EDIT: So I did a little more searching and it looks like you don't need a gauge cluster. However you will need to do an ECU reflash (TechnoSquare does it) which switches from 5At to 6MT data. Apparently the ECU data between the two transmissions is different.

EDIT2: you'll also need to connect the speed sensor from the 5AT to 6MT, I'm not sure if it's PNP. Also, for the driveshaft, you only need the front half shaft, i'm guessing the coupling in the middle is the same.
do you really want to go through all that trouble?

it has to be cheaper to import, plus you won't be out of a car for weeks and won't have to deal with headaches down the road if the swap isn't perfect

^ Unless importing is a proper PITA, I would agree.

This costs about $2000 to do including labor for a coupe.
