I too have this same problem. It started on a long road trip about 2 weeks ago and now it happens every time I am breaking when it is in 2nd, it goes to D. I can drive it in DS and no issues.

Similar, but not the exact same issue. My car just wouldn't recognize that the shifter was pushed left into DS/M so i couldn't use DS mode

I think I only figured out when it is happening, knowing that the dealer would probably want to 'recreate' the problem. Once it happens, manual mode or DS are not available. I restart the car and they work - only briefly though. If I don't use manual mode at all, it will drive fine in DS.

Took the car in today - it isn't the shift lock solenoid - they state it is a small micro processor in the shifter assembley.......they are replacing the whole thing next week (have to order parts) and it is covered under warranty. they said the solenoid is fine. We'll see next week.

did they fix your transmission problem?

Hello,

did they fix your problem? What did they do to fix it?

I am experiencing this issue now on my 2007 G35.
This only happens when the outside temperature is 28 Celsius (82 F) or above; when the temperature goes down the transmission works correctly.

Thx.

I forgot to update things! Dealer fixed the problem - it wasn't the solenoid, it was a micro processor in the shifter assembly - so they had to replace the whole thing. No problems since then. Weather had no bearing on it at all. It was a warranty fix as well.

thanks

Mine just does it with the hot weather; other than that it works fine.
I will take mine in, luckily it's still under warranty.

Thanks for the info Blario .

I'm a new g35 owner. 2006 sedan 82k. Could you tell me where the solenoid switch is located. Is it under the console by the shifter ? I have the same intermittent issue with mine.

I think you'd do better making a new thread in the correct section, rather than posting in a dormant 6 year old thread for a completely different generation of car.

i experience this with my 03 G35, The problem occurs when you place the shifter in manual. Then the display continues to read "D" or it goes back to "D" after a moment or two. At this point it will no longer go back into manual into the car has been restarted.

Can anyone provide info for a self install of the assembly? Checked the DIY section but didn't have any luck. I can figure out the wiring from inside of the vehicle but have no idea where/what to look for under it.
