Used Oil Analysis on my G - sharing results

Apologies for the lack of updates, here are two recent UOA's. The HR is still burning oil at higher OCI, to the tune of about 0.5 quart added at the 7-8k intervals, then draining usually about 4qts during the oil change and filling up again with 5qts.

On these two most recent reports, i did not add make-up oil and decided to test out how good the Mobil 1 is against the Castrol. It's very unscientific so make of it what you want. Personally, i think either oil works well. In this latest oil change i continued with the Castrol to further test it.

November 2012 - Mobil 1 EP
Disregard the mention of DE, it's a typo for sure.

June 2013 - Castrol Syntec

------------------ Old reports below, most and those i have not posted were all on Mobil 1 EP --------------------
Another UOA done, still with Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 with M1 EP M1-110 filter.

A little background, before i went to an HPDE i noticed the vehicle was running a little low on oil, so i added .25 quart for insurance. I think i either made a mistake from the last change (not enough oil going in) or i overlooked the amount i actually drained, thus the mention of "burning oil" (about half a quart lower than i normally drain). That was the first time it happened, but i will monitor this for future UOA's.

FTR, i think this oil is excellent for the HR, this is not the first time i've done extended drains and hitting the track later on in the oil's life.

----- older post below -----

Just wanted to update the thread with a newer UOA.

----- older post below -----

Just wanted to share the results of my most recent UOA. But first, a little background.

Bought the car used with roughly 14k and have used the dealership for a couple of oil changes.

I started doing it again on my own at the 27+k mark, and used Pennzoil Platinum (first time i strayed from Amsoil/M1 in any vehicle.), based on results from other users.

I wasn't completely happy with the results, mainly due to high sodium (which could have been from dealership oil). Not wanting to go further i switched back to Mobil 1 Extended Performance for all succeeding changes, along with the Mobil 1 M1-110 EP filter.

I had a couple of track days between the 8/9 and 3/10, so i'm rather impressed by how the oil fared during these periods.

Blackstone recommends a 9k OCI this time around, but i may just top out at 8k moving forward, we'll see.

Nice results, it's always good to have a real oil analysis and not just everybody's opinion!

Nice. That's the oil im currently running. M1 5/30 Extended performance with the larger m1-110 oil filter. What's your mile interval between the changes?

Welcome! I think the burning issue is a fluke, my own shortcomings. But i'll definitely be monitoring this more closely.

Very cool, thanks for posting. I need to do an analysis on my next change, since I just bought the G used, and Blackstone is down the street from my office.
