Just got off the phone with the dealer, they have ordered a new steering rack, should be installed and replaced early next week. I miss my car...

Damn It. I have a rack leak as well and my warranty is over. I called the dealership and it will be well over $1700.00 to replace the whole unit. 2007 G35s.

where is it leaking from? If it's only a seal or line, then you may be able to replace that specific part only.

steering rack replaced under warranty

Leaky steering rack replaced under warranty (fortunately). Took two days, but no matter. I didn't pay for it.

Bought a new intellikey/remote off ebay for $37 and the dealer only charged $40 to cut and program the new one. Cool!!!

On another subject:
I got a 2010 G37 four door to drive as a loaner. Base model, no options.

Keep in mind I drive an 08S, has everything except ICC.

Anyhow, the new 7 speed auto tranny in the base model? Sucks! You can definitely feel EVERY shift. Manual mode was the same. When I got my car back, I immediately noticed how much better my old 5speed auto shifts. Gets a little better mileage then mine, but off the line acceleration was dismal. Even my wife said it was a slouch! I know, I know, the final drive in the S is set for more speed off the line.

This car was so basic, no heated seats, no HomeLink, no auto headlamps, no memory seats, just basic stuff that you'd normally expect in a "luxury brand' car wasn't there. I wonder who'd pay $30grand for something like this?

So glad to have her back. Missed her the 2 days.

That sucks, was it leaking from the same spot as mine in the pictures?

Not sure. Still waiting for the part to come in. This thursday is when I should have it all fixed. I'm going through close to 5 litres of fluid a week now. It's ridiculous.

Back to life!

For those of you who got this fixed under warranty or otherwise, how has the replacement rack held up? any leaks so far? also did any of you have larger than stock aftermarket rims/tires on front when you went in to get the rack fixed?

Also did anyone who had it replaced have the 4was? looking online for the part it seems 4was g35s have different steering rack, can anyone confirm this?
thanks

Replaced under warranty no leaks or issues so far. I have the stock S rims on my car. No 4WAS.

^ i found remanufactured racks on EBAY for around ~$250-350 if u dont have 4WAS, but as usual with ebay read every line of the auction and their reviews, sometimes they are selling just a used rack and not remanufactured one and then also some offer 2 year warranty and some only 3 months...
