MOD: Make your X 100% RWD. NO JOKE
#31
I found that mod interesting. I kept my G 99.99% on AWD. But if I want, I can put it on RWD for whatever reason. Isn't the best of both world?
In case you would like to dyno your car, isn't easier like this? AWD dyno is expensive I guess.
This as been discussed before with the 2ND gen X. I just found a way to disable the FWD easily on that GEN. I know that will never make a 100% truly RWD G35 but it come close to.
To Q8y_drifter: this is what I did, I used the empty space next to VDC button.

I guess I'd have to weigh in with those who don't get it. The only reason I can imagine doing it is to spin the tires.....I just don't know why you'd want to spin the tires.
Watching Top Gear, they like to get out on the track and smoke the tires. It looks dramatic....but its useless. When they put the Stig in the same car to set a lap time.....no tire spin in the best cars. All grip.
But, just because I don't get it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it. I just want the best traction I can get, at all times and all conditions. That's why I have an X.
When I want RWD, I drive my coupe. But I still don't want to spin the tires.

Test that I've read do not support this. R&T, or maybe it was C&D, found no significant differences in skid pad g's or slolem testing between RWD and AWD. And the understeer they expected, but did not find, was supposed to be due to the extra weight up front which you still have regardless if the front wheels are driven or not.
So that certainly wouldn't be reason enough for those of us who do not race competitively to buy an AWD and then monkey with the electronics to make it RWD only. If you need those extra hundredths of a second on the Solo course or track....you just bought the wrong car....
P.S.: Don't get me wrong. The OP made a cool find, no doubt about it. And if anyone wants to do it too, that's great. Not bashing anybody, just looking at the facts.

This is a thread on how to convert an AWD to RWD. No matter what the reason is. My X is 99.99% (almost all the time) on AWD mode. So this means I love it like that. But I also like the RWD on some condition. My car is not under any warranty and modding cars is my passion and just wanted to share this here.
You have the choice to buy either a RWD or AWD G35/G37. Anybody do what they want and I do like my car the way it is with this mod.
