Same weather all year-round would get boring.

On the 1st gen AWD, I pull the fuse and operate in RWD. Lots of fun and tons of respect for people willing to try new things and monkey around with the car. Question I have is will this affect the transfer case in the long run?

No (according to the service manual) At cruise, we are are 100% RWD anyway. This mod disengage the electric clutch of the transfer case so the front transaxle are free.

My 2010 X coupe looks a little different under the glove box. Has anyone done this on a 2010? Where is that wire!?

I can see a lot of the same modules and plugins. Not all in the same place. I cant find the AWD module.. it the pic on the first page it looks like a small one piggy backing onto another. Nothing with an orange wire either? (colors do change year to year.. they did for the video hack)

It seems some ppl don't like this DIY, i think its pretty cool for a couple of reasons. First off its always interesting to find out more things about your car. Next if in the future something on the awd fails it can be turned off and used as a rwd only. Third if an X'er wants to run a staggered set up for summer this could be useful. I am not sure of the technical aspects of what I've stated here but if any corrections need tobe made let me know. (I'm not a very technical person but these things seem reasonably possible)

I think all these reasons are great.. for me.. I like the feel of the RWD. All in all taking where I live (Winnipeg) its practical for me to go AWD. Now I have an option... man that's just awesome!
