Clutch Engagement Point Changes

Whats up guys,

Been enjoying my new-to-me 2007 G35s 6MT!

Was really frustrated with the stock clutch until I found this forum. Took out the spring in the clutch assembly and lowered the engagement point by approximately 1.25 turns.

Love the clutch now!

However, I've noticed a problem. It seems like on especially cold mornings, the clutch engagement point is lower than usual. There will be more play on the top than usual and the engagement point is closer to the floor. After driving for about 15 minutes or so, the engagement point moves back up to where it should typically be.

Do you guys think this is a problem with a slave/master cylinder, or do you think it's air in the clutch line, therefore a problem that I can solve with bleeding the clutch line? If so, could you guys direct me to instructions?

I have 50,000mi on the car, so it's still under warranty.

Thanks in advance!

its not weird, its defective. there was a recall on all 07 g35s 6mt's for faulty slaves. same thing happened to me during cold weather until last week. clutch pedal barely had any resistance when fully engaged and shifter was as if the clutch was out. called my mechanic for to bleed the clutch line, and was able to make it to the shop. found out the original owner had the master slave and throw out bearing replaced because of notice via mail (i was aware since i bought in 09'). so i called my extended warranty company, and dealership... not covered. so i figure, ill just pay out of pocket. now i get a call that the parts wont be here for 3 more weeks. FML. i should have bought an automatic. 07 6mts beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, make sure you did the recall for the clutch slave cyliner for 07-08 6MT.

Calamanci, even if you already had the slave cylinder replaced under the recall, I would give Infiniti Corporate a call with your symptoms. I would be surprised if they do not fully comp this out of warranty as this is a major issue and one that was a recall not just tsb.

^ youre better off checking for any TSB or recalls on your specific model year for your slave cylinder or clutch on infinitihelp.com

actually i just reversed the clutch mod where you screw in the rod a few turns. put it back to stock and now the clutch engagement point seems to remain the same. initially i screwed in the rod a few turns and also removed that spring. now i only have the spring removed and i'm content. vast improvement over stock form, and no changing engagement point.

good luck.
