How big of a job is it. Expensive?

 

A while back my friend had his f150 drive shaft balanced from a local shop that specializes in it and it didnt take too much time, dropped it off in the morning and picked it up within a couple of hours and we werent even first in line. Cost him ~$60 cash i think after some haggling but this was 3-4years ago so not sure what the rates would be like today but d guess between $80-140 ??

 

^ btw that rate was just to re-balance without any removal or installation charge since we did that ourselves in his garage, well he did the work while i helped with some hammering power

 

Why would you even think that you needed to balance it????

Short answer yes. Going to try a few things ans see what happens and this is one of them. I think i can take it out myself and bring it somewhere...just need to find some info on taking it out... but not sure if anyone has done it before

I find it hard to believe your drive shaft is messed up. I would think the bottom of your seat would be vibrating with a bad drive shaft, not your steering wheel.

Drive down to CT so I can take it for a test drive Hahaha

 

Seat vibrate as well as the wheel. Seems like the whole chassis vibrates almost but not 100% on that. So hard to pinpoint it. Where in CT? By Foxwoods? i am there a lot LOL

 

Only on the highway? I replaced a compression rod and that help highway vibrations.

I'm on the other side of CT, just South of Hartford hahaha

 

Yeah i don't venture to that side...ever..only the side with the casinos

How much did the compression rod run you..where you get it from? Maybe ill replace those first

It was about $200 for the driver's side off eBay.

It's definitely difficult to diagnose vibrations over the internet, as well as clunking or popping noises...do you have any clunking noises?

I don't know what was looked at, but if you feel feedback through the steering wheel, I would start at the outer tie rods, inner tie rods, and check to see if the steering rack is leaking. Are any ball joints leaking? Either on the compression rod, steering knuckle, or upper control arm. You may have to take each arm off and jiggle the ball joint.

Never heard of a drive shaft issue on any G.

Can you also post your alignment numbers.

 

Has the car been in an accident? Did you notice the vibrations all of a sudden or over time? Are your brake rotors warped?

 

I have a whole thread in Suspension and i have typed all of it over and over again. I won't bore you but everything has been checked by 3 mechanics. All say fine. Infiniti said they feel it..but nothing is wrong with the car..WTF. They have been there since day 1 when i bought it


It's weird..i can't find any parts online for my 07 G35x. all i am seeing is 03-06

 

That's messed up if Infiniti cannot find the problem.
