V36 G35X sedan exhaust

So I own a 2007 G35x sedan (model V36 VQ35HR) and I happened to drop my coolant reservoir cap into the engine bay and I couldn't see it so I lifted it onto jack stands to remove the panel under the engine to retrieve the cap. When doing that I realized that the y-pipe/downpipe (the two pipes attached to the two cats) is hella rusty, and on one side, the part with the weaved metal is actually partially torn. So I'm thinking of replacing the entire exhaust system after the catalytic converters, might as well since I bent one of my exhaust tips on a curb while backing into a parking stall. And it got me wondering: do V36 G35 and G35x sedans have the same exact post-cat exhausts? I found some reasonably priced aftermarket exhaust systems online (under $500), but they don't specify if they fit on g35x even though they say they're exact fitting. So if anyone could let me know if V36 G35 sedans and V36 G35x exhausts are the same, that would be great. If not, what would my options be?

I may be wrong but id imagine your exhaust setup is more similar to the g37 sedan

For all the V36 sedans, both RWD and AWD, the exhaust pipe sections are the same. You can compare the part numbers for yourself here:

RWD: http://www.trademotion.com/parts/200...iagram=3841185

That's good to know. Thanks man. Do you have any recommendations in regards to affordable exhaust systems with the y-pipe included?

Nope. If it were me, I probably just get used parts from a wrecker or from someone parting one out.

Hey buddy,
The the axleback and Y pipe is the only thing that is the same. The Mid section for the RWD will not fit the AWD and vice versa.

Are you looking for just the rear section?

I'm not saying that I know you're wrong (cuz I don't), but if that is true, then why do all the Infiniti parts breakdowns (from multiple sources) show the same part numbers?

EDIT: Or is this just a stock OEM vs. aftermarket parts issue?

Which part numbers are you referring to? The G 35 and G 37 v36 RWD AND AWD have the exact same exhaust parts. Certain manufacturers such as Ark Performance have the developed a mid pipe that will fit both. Other companies such as INvidia will only fit the rear wheel drive.

OK, so that sounds like you are saying it's a stock vs. aftermarket issue, where OEM parts are fully interchangeable, but specific aftermarket vendors may have compatibility issues.

Brief history recap:

1) Back in post #3, I provided links to an Infiniti parts breakdown showing that all the exhaust parts the op was asking about were the same part number, which basically implied they are compatible between all the RWD and the AWD V36 sedan models.

2) Then, you posted a blanket comment that they are not all compatible.

3) SO then, I asked you why all the (OEM) part numbers were listed as being the same.

4) Next, you replied that the cars in question did indeed "have the exact same (assuming OEM here) exhaust parts", but then noted how specific aftermarket brands can vary.

Do I have that right now?

The mid section seems fine so I could forget about replacing that part of the exhaust but I do need a new Y-pipe since my stock ones are covered in rust and the section with the weaved metal is torn on one side. And I also want to get a new rear section since the exhaust tip on my right side is bent.

Here's a couple pictures

Have you ordered from this site before? I need to order catalytic converters for my car and the part number does not match the infiniti website.

Yes, two or three times over over the last 3 years or so. They are actually the internet division of the Pepe Infiniti dealership parts department (in White Plains). At the times when I was ordering from them, they were running about 30% discount from suggested retail. If you need any help at all, just call the dealership parts department and speak to one of the parts techs. (http://www.pepeinfiniti.com/)

Whats up guys, I have a question that I feel like through searching hasnt been covered much if at all regarding an 08 sedan. I just ordered the top speed pro 1 catback which I know some of you all have (or had) and I want to know whether there is an hfc or other mod that would compliment the system. Going for a deeper exhaust note and want to keep rasp to a minimum. Looking for anything 400-500 that could add performance or be a nice addition to my exhaust. Let me know!
