How to change interior light bulbs in doors?

I was wanting to put some bright LED bulbs in the doors but I don't see anyway to get to the bulb short of taking the inside panel of the door?

Same goes for overhead lights in the headliner in back seat. Surely you don't have to take the headliner out to change these?

FYI, I got the LED bulbs for the license plate. Those were easy. Bulb holders just snap out, only took a few minutes to change them.

Do you have the Service Manuals? If so, the instructions are located in the "INL" manual.

Hmmm... well I'm confused... manual says

"Insert any appropriate tool into the gap between the lens, remove the lens..."

What's an "appropriate tool"? Sounds like they are saying to just pry the lens off with something like a butterknife?

Yeah, I think a butterknife would work fine, or a small flat screwdriver.

Can someone post the instructions (PDF)? I tried to play around with the plastic trims, but I don't want to break anything.

OK... got the front maplight covers off... with a butter knife. The White LED's look awesome. Pure blue white compared with the yellowish OEM bulbs.
Note of warning... the factory bulbs get to about 500 degrees in 5 seconds
when they are on, don't try and pull them out with your fingers like I did...

Now for the back seat lights over the doors. These I'm still pondering. There's zero "gap" around the edge of the lens. A butterknife won't fit.
Going to try an eye glasses screw driver in a minute.

I'm using the same LED bulbs someone posted for the license plate bulbs
(got them off EBAY). They seem to work for the other bulbs too.

194 bulbs? I have so many leftover from my Mazda6. I have some nice 5-LED matrix bulbs. I can't wait to change ALL of the cabin and door lights.

Railgunner - can you please give me the link to the ebay supplier you bought them from (as well as the style and model). Someone else posted an ebay supplier for the bulbs he bought, but he wants like $30 for shipping to Canada. The bulbs only cost like $5!

and lights at bottom of front doors (2x) with 2x left over...

If you had to pay $46 would you still order them?

The shipping prices to Canada are a little steep.

I'm going to wait until I get my car and see what the lights are like "as is". If I don't like them, I'll probably order them.

I really like the license plate LED's on the Lexus IS350 ... so we'll see.

Railgunner - I'd like to see pics of the inside and license plate when you're done (w/ no flash of course).
