Bucking or Hesitation?

Any one has this issue with the 6MT? The car tends to buck from neutral to 1st and a little from 1st to 2nd.

Had the ITB07-045 done and it seems that the G35 exhibits more this tendency?

be one with the clutch oh clutch master haha, just playing, i've noticed it too but i just thought it was because i'm not the best at the manual shifting

My previous 04 G35 6MT didn't do that.

Of course, I can always give it more gas and release the clutch slowly....

yeah i have to do that sometimes, even though i know the clutch hates it

drgsaik - I too have a 6 mt but does not buck like you describe. I have read that this may indicate air in the system; bleeding the hydraulic clutch lines and reservoir may help.

I am going from memory, but I recall a post some months ago (maybe this forum) where somebody had clutch engagement "like an on off switch" and after the dealership bled and refilled the system it improved.

I think I read (perhaps misinterpreted) your question about bucking or hesitation into a clutch engagement issue, but could also be something else.

Have you had the Technical Bulletin for reprogramming the ECU done? I believe it is intended for cruise control surge but others say it makes the car run smoother, there are numerous posts on this. I personally have not had this done.

The old car had a dual mass flywheel that would absorb some of these engine variations. The new car does not have this... this makes the shift action smoother/easier most of the time but sometimes this bucking will happen.

Some bad comes w/ the good...

The 07 G35 6MT seems to be touchier at take-offs than the the 04. The start-up into 1st gear is jerky unless I give it more gas and release the clutch carefully.

I did have the ITB07-045 done that should includes the ITB-028 (cruise control surge). I noticed it more after I got the car back.

Are you sure the 07 6MTs don't have the dual mass flywheel? I was told and believe I read somewhere that the 07s still had it.

As to buck and hesitation I think it has to do with 2 distinct features.

1) The accelerator pedal is hinged at the top--most cars' pedals are hinged a the bottom. So if you toe the pedal in the middle or the at the bottom you are really getting only limited leverage. When the leverage does kick in as you push with more force, you feel a hesitation and then a buck. Solution? Toe the accelerator pedal at the top or use your entire foot.

2) The engagement point on the clutch is high and the travel is kind of straight ahead, not down. So, as you depress the clutch if your knee is too bent on the way up you can't feel the engagement point and probably release with a jerk. Solution? Move seat position back and down and use a less bent knee to shift in a more straight ahead and more evenly forceful fashion.

get the cruise control reflash of the ECU done, you'll notice the difference. Granted you are not having cruise control problems, but the reflash fixes the buck/hesitation in the pedal/throttle. The bulletin is ITB07-028a and can be found on the infiniti owners site and there are other posts regarding this on the forums.

Had the ITB07-045 done. That should have included all the previous S/W releases. My first impression after the reflash is that the car was doing it more. And yes, beside that problem, the car has better driveability.
I am going to try what RCK mentioned and change my way of shifting!!!!
And like I said, I didn't have this issue with my 04-6MT.

I don't believe the 45 is the same reflash as the 28. Two different issues, two different parameters. You should look into it. Very difficult for me to believe, based on my recent experience, that the correct reflash would make the problem more noticeable.

OK. Just got the clutch slave cylinder ITB08 - P7253 done. The car is much smoother! Bucking is almost all gone.
