07 G35 MT slave cylinder.

Well, now they are covering us, as well as the 07+ 350z MT's, under the recall. I recieved my notice in the mail yesterday. I've already had mine replaced, but if there is a part number change, I still want the new one.

Here's the thread on the 350z recall:

I didn't notice any difference. Of course, my clutch only had ~4000 miles on it. Even if some of that was at the racetrack.

Took my 6MT in on Friday for the slave cylinder TSB repair and have been waiting three days. Manhattan Infiniti says it's a 6 hour procedure, not 3 hours because they have to drop out the transmission. This makes me nervous about whether they know what they're doing.

They know what they are doing, the reason they have had your car for 3 days is because 1. you took it in on a Friday. 2. they are closed on weekends, and 3. Its a holiday week meaning they will be closed on Wednesday also.

I called my dealer about this and they said it will be inspected to determine whether it needs to be replaced - is this normally the case, or should they just replace it? I'm a little suspicious, because they also said they had never heard of an ECM reflash TSB. In fact, when I said "I believe there was an Infiniti TSB related to this issue," the guy on the phone said "TSB? What do you mean?"

I haven't had any oil consumption issues I'm aware of, but my clutch has been making some odd sounds lately. The car also shakes pretty violently if I'm engaging the clutch from an uphill stop. It's got less than 10k miles on it though, and it's not like I'm dropping the clutch and racing around.

Anyone have input on what the dealer's responsibility is regarding these TSBs? I have some serious doubts that they want to go to the trouble of replacing the slave cylinder if they can possibly avoid it, but it sounds like others here didn't have problems and got it replaced anyhow.

Thanks!

Okay, several things in your post Woadie:
1) For the subject of this post, the Slave Cylinder, it's a *recall* They don't have a choice, they have to do it if your car is in the affected VIN range. Inspections be damned, this is a RECALL. You can call the NHTSA and rat them out for not performing a factory issued recall. You could also call Infiniti Consumer Affairs (ICA) and complain there. They will likely direct you to another dealership. If there isn't another dealership nearby, be polite and persistent with them (ICA) and have them call and ask to speak to the service department manager of the dealership that isn't helping you. Really, the dealership doesn't have a choice on the clutch recall.

2) There isn't an ECM reflash TSB. There's a TSB for Surging Cruise Control and / or Cold Start problems that include an ECU(ECM) reflash. Search here to read up on those and see if your vehicle is effected (07s only).

3) Try using the phrase ITB instead of TSB. TSB is a generic term for Technical Service Bulletin. ITB is Infiniti Technical Bulletin. If they still don't know what an ITB is, RUN, not walk away.

4) Oil consumption was a problem with the previous generation of motors. If you're in an 07 (again, this thread is about 07s) then you shouldn't have an issue.

5) Shaking on uphill launch: Dunno if this is a symptom of a clutch problem or a driver problem. Uphill starts are always the hardest to master.

*edit* Oh and a quote from the mail that went out about the recall:
"If the retailer fails, or is unable to complete the modifications free of charge, you may contact the National Consumer Affairs Office, Infiniti Division, Nissan North America, Inc. at P.O Box 685003 Franklin, TN 37068-5003. The toll free number is 1-800-662-6200."

(Go up a forum, look at the stickies, read the entire letter for yourself, it includes the VIN info)

Hey jayjay, Manhattan Infiniti was open on both Saturday and MLK day. They claimed it was a 6 hour, not a 3 hour procedure and didn't want the saturday and holiday crews to half finish the job. Got the car last night, Tuesday.

They seem very decent, even dropped off my car at my house in Bklyn and picked up the loaner.

Clutch, shift and throttle dynamic feels much smoother. Will test this pm to determine if response and power have suffered.

I must say I am impressed with Manhattan Infiniti's work and customer relations.
