I've just turned 15k on our 07 w/ 18" sport wheels, the Infinity dealer just changed the oil and on the printout it listed tread depth at 5/32". The tires still look pretty good, I'm thinking I've got about 1/2 the useable tread left. Is it unrealistic to think these Summer tires can get 30k treadlife?

BTW, our dealer says Infinity doesn't let their dealers rotate the staggered sport rims, even though they CAN be swapped side to side. Seems like this would help squeeze a few more miles out of 'em. Anyone else have their dealer say they can't rotate these (side to side).

they can't rotate because the tires are directional. (i think) check the side wall of the tires. it will say rotation with an arrow if they are.

If you have the sport rims and tires, they can't be rotated. The rear tires are wider than the front plus the tires have directional tread.

Unless you have a alignment problem there shouldn't be any need to swap side to side (they should wear evenly). Plus, I remember reading in another thread that the TPMS sensors are side specific.

Just to confuse things abit. The oem tire are staggerd and the tread pattern are non-symetrical but not necessarily directional, which technically mean one can swap them (side to side in our case). As far as the TPMS goes, I have heard that they are non-side specific. Hence the dash warning light does not have directions either.

All directional tires have arrows in the direction of forward rotation. The stock Potenzas only have an "outside" printed on the sidewall which means they can be swapped side to side. I'm aware of the staggered rim sizes, but just really wanteed to know if 30k is reasonable or unreasonable to assume they can get that many miles on them.

30k is probably not going to happen unless you drive like a granny.... 15-20k is probably a more reasonable expectation.

When I took my G in for it's 12K service, the service guy offered to rotate the staggered sport wheels side to side. I declined because the wear looked pretty even and I didn't think it would help prolong the life of the tires. I'm currently sitting at 13K miles and hopefully I can squeeze 20K out of this OEM set. I plan on going with Goodyear F1's next because of their higher tread wear rating. Although the Bridgestone Potenza's are excellent tires in all areas except tread wear. But I guess there is no such thing as the perfect tire. You either buy handling or tread wear but not both. The Goodyear F1 look like they may be a descent compromise.

out of Stones....ever! I got 10K miles out of my last set of Potenzas, they
weren't totally shot but they didn't have enough tred for our Ca. freeways
on a damp day. Next set buy Michelins, you won't be sorry!

once the Potenzas hit below 5/32 the traction on a wet road fades. It starts to hydroplane and you should change them by the time they are close to 3/32. The legal limit is 2/32.

my car was at 16,000 when the rear tires hit the tire low indicator on the tread, the front has about half left.

Looks like it's a change-out at 20k, thanks for the info. And no, I don't drive like a granny, but maybe a grandpa that has the runs and forgot his depends, lol
