Heating Issue?

Hi Guys, I'm in the first week with my new G35 and love it except for the heater. It seems that the car gets really hot even when you turn the temp down to 65 degrees. The air comes out as if it is around high 70s low 80s. Does anyone else has this problem? Is this normal? I also turned on the A/c to get it cooler and it didn't seem to get that cold. It got to around 70.

In my other car as well as my parents, when you turn the temp down and turn on the A/C you get nice cool air. G35 doesn't get cold air blowing out of it.

Could it be a problem with the A/c + Heating unit? I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow, but I just wanted to see what you guys think.

I assume that you do have it set on "Auto" right (under the **** that controls the driver's side temperature, you should see a green light, if not, then press in the ****)? If not, it'll still display a temperature on the screen but if its not set on Auto then...yeah.

Nope, it's not set on Auto.

Should it be? In all the other cars I've never had it set to auto.

my car does that too.. i warmed up my car with the temp set at 90 until the temp gauge went to about 40%.. then started driving.. got a little stuffy.. so turned it down to 65.. but felt that it was still pretty warm.. so i set it to 63.. was better.. i guess because its cold outside the car produces more warm air.

were ur air vents open or closed? my guess is if its open.. some heat from the engine could cause the warmness at 65..

Mine is always set on Auto, and I just adjust the temp. If it's 75+ outside, setting it below 70 delivers COLD air. It's a bit tricky when the outside temp is close to the set temp though, sometimes have to adjust multiple times while driving. Of course, I drive with the sunroof open this time of year, so it may not be the G's fault.

It is still in the 20s and 30s here so no sunroof for me

For the temp I set it to around 74 to warm up with all vents open and air set to fresh air. I don't know why the engine should warm the car up. That never happened in my older car and it doesn't happen in my mom's LS or my dad's SRX. In a car that costs this much it should prevent the hot engine air from getting inside the cabin or so I think.

Anyways, I'm taking it into the dealership tomorrow to have them look at it They have to touch up some pain near the door anyways. There was already some paint scratched off when I got it

Dropped off my 07 at the dealer today.

When it gets really cold out. The heater is scolding hot right down to the 62 degree setting. When I go one more degree, to 61, the air then gets really cold and the dash and everything starts creaking and cracking from the sudden temp change.

This is after the car has been fully warmed up and I'm cruising on the highway.

Mostly this occurs when I'm driving late and it's well below freezing.

I spoke to a M35 driver at a gas station who asked me if I was having the problem, because he already was. That's when I fugured it wasn't just me.

I just turn it into manual mode and turn the fan down. As you decrease the temperature, the air mix door modulates the amount of cold air mixing with hot air, when I first got my G, this door motor was not installed correctly, took it out and tested it myself and put it in correctly now everything works great. In the 03-04, you can run the diagnostic system on it, place the key on the on position without turning on the motor, then press and hold the off button on the HVAC for 5 seconds, these would set you into diagnostic mode, first setting is the display everything should light up, hit down temp button and 2 should light up, leave it alone and it will run a sensor diagnostic, usually the light sensor (code 25) will pop up if it's too dark out but if you just get 20 then everything is fine, you can scroll down to 3 to test all door functions and so on. Read the FSM to see how to properly do it. Good luck.

If the dealer cannot diagnose it, I will give this a shot. Thanks for the response.

Anyone else this happening to?
