The car will idle high until it reaches operating temperature. If you watch it, the RPM will slowly come down as the temp gauge goes up.

My s2k takes about 3 minutes to drop from 2200 to its idle of 1000 if I just let it sit there.
My G used to take about 60 seconds to go from the warm up to idle.

I think this is normal. I notice that our cars usually reach operating within 30-40 sec.
thanks once again guys....just seemed high compared to all my other cars....i know as long as it drops its ok. but 1800-2k was just a lil high on startup IMO

Just noticed the same thing this morning, 3rd day of ownership and 70 miles on the car. Seems a bit wasteful in the gas dept. 70 deg isn't exactly a "cold start", does it take longer for the idle to drop in cold weather?
