Hey, thanks for the links. I did check it, here's what it said:

a conductor that exists primarily to provide a low impedance path to the earth to prevent transient hazardous voltages from appearing on equipment; normally a grounding conductor does not carry current.

Also, IIRC the ground wires from a grounding kit are not carrying signals per se - otherwise your car wouldn't run before you install it. Grounding kits are designed to equalize voltage between grounding points, and potentially eliminate noise and spikes. People have varying opinions on effectiveness.
