Leaving for a month how should I prep?

Hey guys,

I'm going home for the holidays and so would be leaving my car in an underground parking lot for around a month. Is there anything I should before i leave?

I've read threads about the battery dying in a week or so, I'm guessing it's because of our Intelligent key thing so the car is always using the battery to sense if the key is there, I've left my old camry for 3 months and it started fine, so before i leave should i disconnect my battery? Because i know when i get back the first thing I want to do it drive my car and i'll suck if it doenst' start.

Anything else I should do? i'm going to wash it and all before i tuck it away to sleep. Any help is much appreciated.

I'm GOING TO MISS MY G SO MUCH!

I'm going away for a month this winter and leaving my G out in the snow for that period. All I will do is make sure she is clean and had a recent oil change. That's it.

Make sure you set the locks/alarm etc, and have your wheel locks on, if you know a neighour tell em to keep an eye out for you, im sure you have read the recent threads with stolen rims and such, and theives would be pleased to see a car with nice wheels parked in one spot with no activity for a couple of weeks and then make there move...

Just saying this so you're extra careful as iv been there myself

I work on a 28 day on / 28 day off schedule, so I leave my car parked every other month. I've never had any issues with the battery (or anything else for that matter). The biggest issue I've seen is the tires getting "flat spots" on them from sitting for that long. Usually it goes away after driving a few miles.

damn...what do ya do bfranks, if u dont mind me asking?

my input is, put a car cover on it. dust/dirt settling in the paint is a serious chore to get out. feels like sand paper.

I work as the offshore IT for a seismic company. It's tough being gone sometimes....but I get 6 months paid vacation a year, so can't complain .

I did find that car covers made things worse. Dust and dirt get everywhere, and all the car cover does is help grind it into the paint. It's sort of a damned if you do....damned if you don't situation.

Wheel locks are just lugs with a certain pattern that requires a lug "key." If you have them from the dealer then they are already "set."
