I cant lock my car! Im over 100 miles from the closest dealership...when I turn the car off and put it in park the indicator shows park but the "shift park" light comes on...I cant leave the car because the chime with come on ....also the shifter will shift back and forth without pushing the brake...Im having trouble getting to a dealership in the next few days

negative...just drive it and put gas in it...Im wondering if it has somethign to do with the brake and shift lock

 

Try your shift lock butom.

 

or disconect the battery.

 

I actually had this same problem with mine recently and the dealership had to replace the entire shifter assembly... Apparently the lever inside the shifter that hits the switches so the car knos what gear it's in got bent somehow and the indicator light would always stay on and I could put the car in gear without pushing down the brake or pushing in the button on the shifter. They had to order the assembly and it took them TWO DAYS to replace it (apparently they said it was a much bigger job than they anticipated), but they did it all under warranty and even gave me a loaner car.
