I haven't noticed increased mileage but I know that the protection is better over the long term whcih is why I use synthetic.

I use Mobil1 5W30 because Costco sells it for a great price when they send out the coupon book. Sometimes Mobil 1 EP if it's on sale.

rusty: just saw a HD Science Channel show - "Brink". they were demonstrating small things that can be done to increase MPGs. They were usinga new Hyundai Genesis: one item was to use synthetic oil. "Should raise MPGs by up to 3 mpg?? In fact, they tested the cars in Texas, tinting all the windows could add 1/2 mpg due to less usage of the A/C compressor. I think I'll try MOBIL 1.

That's cool. Nice to know there is more evidence of synthetic advantages. Too bad the US has screwed up the definition and allowed those damned group III "synthetics" which are just highly refined crudes rather than true synthetic base like PAO.

I would have liked to see that show but, alas, I don't have HD or even digital cable. I am too cheap so I just have basic analog cable. Maybe one day I will upgrade.

Don't get me wrong, we have digital and satallite cable here, I usually go broke after paying for the car (or stuff for it).

I got the turn signals from an Ebay store found here. http://stores.ebay.com/thespeedline The quality is very good. The paint job is OK, not perfect but drips are not noticeable unless you are looking real close. *Make sure to read the entire Ebay listing as you need to provide information and pay an extra fee to have it painted for you. It requires removal of the door trim and some wiring. You have to find one of your turn signals to tap into and a ground wire. Below are some threads with photos. Good luck!

Sorry for the thread jack...now everyone get back to synthetic oil topic...I am going to read that long thread posted by terrycs.

I have been running on full synthetic oil for 10k miles and didn't see any improvement in gas mileage. A little faster engine rev is what I experienced compare to conventional oil. I used 10-30W Mobil and 10-30W Valvoline.

Interesting feedback: no increase in mpgs using synthetic oils, yet the "scientists" on that HD Science Channel show said you definetely would see Up To 3 mpgs??? I guess Its Too Good To Be True - like the investment returns of Bernie Madoff LOL, LOL.....
