Windshield clicks and pops

Windshield clicks and pops
Like most of the country we have had exceptionally cold weather here in the mid-Atlantic. I've noticed over the last two weeks a lot of clicking and popping coming from my '07 G35X windshield, usually while hitting various bumps and dips in the road. This is more than a little worrisome since it involves the overall structural integrity of my car. Anyone else experiencing this? Not sure what to do about it.

Mine makes similar noise. I think it is coming from windshield but it may be coming from dash? It sounds like a plastic on glass etching popping sound. Mine is temperature sensitive and occurs right around 38+/-2F.
I have no idea what it is and have done nothing about it.
There are a few other creaks and rattles that occur in cold temps on my car. But when it is nice out 40+F, they all seem to go away so I haven't taken any action.

Yeah I'm a little reluctant to try any warranty claims. The dealer might attempt to reseal the windshield and make it leak or worse. Guess I'll just wait for warmer weather too. Be a bummer though if the windshield pops out after the warranty expires.

I had this exact problem. Read the attached thread. The windshield has to be removed and re-sealed..along with a molding that it sits on at its base. The dealer did this with no major damage except for come dirt..that was cleaned. No squeaks since done and 1.5 full winters. It drove me crazy..had to be fixed!

Yes. I thought so too. Had to be the dash. The dash is the radiator for the glass as it moves and squeezes the lower molding that it rests in. I worked on this with friend with me riding in the passenger seat etc spend many hours. I am an engineer and the root cause was driving me crazy...did this with the infiniti tech as well. We actually drove the car without the windshield to verify. was sure they would screw the car up. Thankfully the ourside firm that did the windshield removal "had an awesome set of tools" and did the job correctly. Almost 18 months now and it is quiet!

Don't use WD-40 as it is not really "good" to the rubber. Your best bet here is to get some stuff they sell at Honda dealers to quiet squeaking S2000 tops. It is called shin-etsu grease and is about $12 for a tube. You can use it all on the rubber seals around your car and it will help quiet any squeaks and last for a very long time. Silicon spray is much better than WD-40 as it is safe on rubber if you want to take the lazy way out. I haven't had to use anything on my windsheild molding.....I heard it pop once after driving through a lot of snow and having it melt in my garage and then refreeze when driving....sounded like my whole windshield had cracked....haven't heard it since.
