Replacing Rear Turn Signals

What's up guys/gals? Great Forum!

Just picked up my 08 G35xS a few weeks ago and the first thing I must do besides tinting is to replace the rear turn signals with LEDs ... annoys me to no end how we have LED tails but not the signals.

I've seen a few posts regarding what some have done but would like to get some opinions from those of you who have performed this mod as to the best replacement bulb out there.

Currently looking at the 7440-WLX3, -WHP3, -W15 from superbrightleds.com, and the 7443-48-SMT, -27-SMT from v-leds.com.

Thanks in advance!

Question

Thought this was a popular mod ... guess not.

Looks like I'll be ordering the 7440-WLX3 ... hopefully I'm not throwing $50 down the crapper.

Tim did it to his. But, we're part of the first generation sedans. Might be different for the second generation sedans.

well... i mistakenly ordered these bulbs...

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P..._by/sell_price

i was trying to order some new bulbs for my reverse lights and was not paying attention. I am going to try and send them back so they can swap them out with what i need. or...if you want to pay shipping you can have them.

here are my observations...

- not as bright as stock bulb
- blinking was faster on & off (similar to break lights)

I liked the way they looked when they blinked...but I want a bright light.

Thanks for the responses guys. I ordered the 7440-WLX3 from superbrightleds. I'll update once they're installed.

i don't think ur going to get as bright as the stock bulb.

does the led light up faster or is the blink is shorter intervals?
the faster blink is from the led drawing less current from the blink assembly.
the blink timing has to do with current draw. LEDs are drawing less so it speeds up the blink.
if that is the case you can add a resistor to the circuit to slow it back down to normal. I had that problem on my R6.

good luck with the mod, i hope you like them

it lit up faster and stayed lit as long as the stock bulb. with the LED you basically get rid of the fade in & out that the factory bulb has.

but you are correct...the LED is not nearly as bright.

I opted to keep the factory bulb.

Well, I installed the 7440-WLX3 from superbrightleds ... not happy at all with the way they look (would take a pic but wife recently broke $400 camera). Since this bulb has only 1 LED, it does not throw enough light to fill the tail housing. You basically see the brightness only where the LED is positioned and the remaining residual light creates a ring effect around the turn signal portion of the housing ... the whole lens does not fill red as I had hoped.

Not to mention that the way the bulb fits into the lens, it's not dead-on straight so the LED appears off-center when viewing directly from the rear of the vehicle.

Will be returning these bulbs and ordering the 7440-W15's that one user in the forum had success with ... helluva lot cheaper too, $6.99 ea vs. $24.95.

I'll update once I get them ...

I don't think they would show through the red lens.
If you want orange then you need JDM rears.
