manual shift ****

Does anyone know how to remove the shift **** from an 08 6MT? I do not want to damage it. I might want to change it down the road. (pictures?) Any ideas on a replacement as well.

Thanks!

I have seen a few posts around for it, i was planning on doing it as well, but once i saw the OEM ***** being destructed during the removal even from a dealer i changed my mind, the tricky part is that the **** is on there pretty tight and you need a vice and pliers to get it off(hold the shifting rod with the pliers TIGHTLY and use pliers with a cloth to turn the shift **** anti-clockwise), but requires a lot of force, some ppl in the previous gen. even turned the shift rods causing a few problems, while others have done it succesfully with no problems.
Just giving you a heads up, if you do it, thne do post pics
GOODLUCK!

umm yea, you have to hold the bottom part the shift stick i dont know what its called but the pole that is the actual shifting mecanism, you have to hold that really really really really really really hard with a vice grip and deebo from friday, while someone like the HULK twists the shift **** clockwise.... believe me i had the people call infiniti and ask them how to do it, it was incredibly hard for a 250 lb guy to take it off, i wouldnt recommend doing it yourself... they use the same glue NASA does...

The dealer did it for me and had to replace the entire shift-linkage, leather boot, and surrounding plate ($300.00 +) at their expense. They told me "ehhh no problem should take us a few minutes..." Righhhttt
Like MiamispeedinG35 stated Infiniti uses the same Glue NASA does...

Hopefully, it's not the glue they use to keep those ceramic tiles on with... those damn things keep falling off!
