I'm pretty sure that these only apply to 2nd gen cars.
IIRC the coupes have a different bumper fastener.
If that's the case, we'll keep you DIY in the TECH section here & add it to the stickies.
...can anyone confirm that this is unique to 2nd gen??

The darker the color, the less noticeable the drilled holes are. Remove the plate and bracket, then remove the white nylon toggle nut as well. Once the white toggle nut is off, the hole will stil be there, but not very noticeable. If it still bugs you, get plugs or get them filled.
