removing front license plate

Thanks Terry....
I'm pretty sure that these only apply to 2nd gen cars.
IIRC the coupes have a different bumper fastener.
If that's the case, we'll keep you DIY in the TECH section here & add it to the stickies.

...can anyone confirm that this is unique to 2nd gen??

NM... found it, it's 2nd gen only.

It appeared to be just screwed directly into the bumper. There were only holes into the bumper the size of the screws. I will take the mount off when I get my new frame and take a pic.

For mine, it was just screwed right into the bumper as well.

^ Yes his car is awesome

I think the methods they use depend on dealership to dealership, Because I heard that when the cars first get there there are no holes in the bumper, then the dealership puts them on.

^ the dealers will definitely do what ever is easiest, that's for sure.
When I patched my sport bumper, there was no backing material there at all that you can screw into.
Toggles are the only thing that would work.
Maybe the standard bumper is different. dunno:

I would check mine but the rain is really coming down right now No toggles in mine and it seems very secure.

The bumper cover is probably thick enough to get a couple of threads into it, but IMO, there really should be a toggle but in there for added security.

I guess, if a cop tries to ticket you for not having a plate just go " OH MY GOD, IT FELL OFF!!!!!"
