Fog Light HID Kit Installed.

so i was looking for a brighter and more comparable bulb to match the stock headlights.

the bulbs that i had in the fogs were sylverstar ultras the whitest and brightest halogen bulb out. it was bright but were looking a little yellow since they were only 4100k as to our hids 4300k.

so i went over and over many types and models on what to do and decided to do a hid converson for the fogs

ordered offline got it the next day.

i got the 5000k 55w kit. since going past 4300k light output is diminished thats why most hid kits are 35w to save power and better fuel economy bla bla. so the 5000k would lose a little bit of light output as if it were for the 35w but since i upgraded to the 55w id say its just as bright as the 4300k.

6000k would be too blue and with too much of a power output loss and 4300k were bright but didnt match the headlights so this is what i got.

install was super easy took about 20mins all simple plug and play the hardest part was getting my tool box out. since i got the intake all i did was unscrew the one bolt on each side of where the filter box is and there it was. thats also where i installed the hid ballasts to right ontop of the metal bracket to the intakes.

here are some pics...

installed

friends integra compared to stock headlights.

as you can see its not the bright output going straight it gives a more round reflection where the ground is lite up right in front thats what i like and was specifically looking for.

stock with the sylverstar

HID

fogs off fogs on

hey man - that looks great!

Couple of questions!

1) where did you get it and how much?
2) could you further describe where the ballast attaches? or maybe even show us on a pic?'

I have changed out my foglights twice now.. the first time with piaa. The next was hoens. But I still think it could be better. lol

maybe I should have gone the HID route from the get go.... :S

comes with double sided tape, but if you look and lift the rubber piece where i mounted mine there is a bracket that holds the intake or air filter box..so just take that one off and put these in and thats it.

yup the sylverstars halogens cost that much. for half the power. so far im happy with em.

Looks good, only problem with HID's in the fogs is the glare it may have for oncoming drivers.

why wouldn't you mount the ballasts on the bottom side of the existing headlight ballasts?

Looks good, But should mount the ballast under the OEM Headlight Housings, or under the fender liner, for a cleaner Install, I took ,y time when I did my HID Fog Kit. Took out the fender liner, ran the wires, mounted the ballast on some part of the OEM Housings, or on a pice of metal support, it's hidden and out of the way! Now way u can tell I have a HID Fog kit in there! But my kit came with long wires from the ballast. your looks pretty short? Not sure. but the light's looks good nonetheless! good job!

yea man there's places to stick it too, just gotta be creative, and mount away from heat sources, I mounted one side to a platic part of i think the headlight housing, and the other side, was mounted i think near the headlight housing also! but my kit i bought had slim ballasts, not the reg big one. so it was easier to mount. but if you want it tucked away like OEM, take your time, look, and u will be good to go!

You can actually hide the ballasts in the fenders under the rubber liner. I'll see if I can dig up some pics of my install.

My only worry would be that the bulb might melt the inside of the headlight housing
