taillight removal

just curious to see if anyone has a write up on how to remove the taillights. I havent taken a solid look at it yet to see how easy it is. Im going to be tinting my tails and Im trying to decide if removing the tails will help.

To completely remove the tail light assemblies, first remove the cover over the spare tire.

Then remove the trunk liner covering the rear tail light assemblies. They are held in place by reuseable fasteners - using a small screw driver, pull the center out but not all the way off.

There are three nuts on each light that needs to be removed. You will also find that there is a nylon cable tie that has to be cut. Disconnect the wire harness. Push on the studs to remove the assembly while keeping a hand on the outside so they don't hit the ground (the gasket may be stuck). Removal should take about 10 minutes for both sides.

The back of the assembly looks like this:
