Re: Carbon Fiber Hood
Thanks gmen. I didn't mean to come across in a sarcastic manner in my previous reply, it's just that I don't know anything about the CF hood. This is a new area for me and I'm just trying to understand.

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood
Dang, I guess for next time that I need advice not to ask. I am just trying to get some important information, I'm trying not to upset anybody. And before I spend a few hundred, I wanted to do some research. I just wanted to say thanks to those who helped me :-) I decided that I am going to go ahead and get the CF hood because, it is going to look gooooooood :-)

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood
Just an FYI,
I just ran into a friend at work with a C fiber hood on his Acura. He claims his old steel hood weighed 35lbs and his new C fiber hood weighs 15lbs. Still only 20lbs difference. At any rate, he said it is just for looks and he could not tell any perfomance difference in getting the new hood.

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood
150lbs for an aluminum hood? Are you serious? Man I must be getting strong because my hood does NOT seem to weigh that much.
But seriously, a carbon fiber hood will NOT make you "faster" AT ALL. Unless you are planning on redoing every piece of the body in CF, you are not going to make your car "faster". If the logistics of this are too hard to comprehend, use common sense: a 3000lb car weighing 2980lb is not going to be that much faster.
No offense, don't take this like a flame, just please don't beleive all the hype that surrounds CF products.

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood
Hello, I'm new here.
That hood from VIS isn't even a G35 hood. The pictures is for an RSX hood. Do other searches like Altima cf hood and you'll see it's the same hood.
BTW, $430 is good for a hood especially if it's for a high line car like ours. You will not find a hood for $150 - $250 especially for a G35. If you paid $30k - $40k for an INFINITI you can spare a few more hundred for a top quality hood.
(I know 30- 40 isn't much but it is a lot considering HONDA owners buy their hoods for the same if not more.)
I don't work for VIS or anything, I work with carbon fiber...

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood
The price of a carbon fiber hood shouldn't matter what kind of car it goes on. It's still carbon fiber. Because it's on a G35 it doesnt mean that the carbon fiber will be made any differently from the RSX hood besides the fact that they are different shaped. The weave is still the same.
