Suggestions for the MEET!
ok.... Here are the suggestions so far:

Dec 27 in the SGV!
How about a meet at the Industry Malibu Grand Prix. Huge parking lot - bar, video games, drag racing, kart racing...mini golf.
Not much in the way of a cruise opportunity, unless you wanna go freeway. But it would be a lot of fun and lots of stuff to do. I can check into discounts and private rooms (if they have em)

theres plenty of alternative parking lot options around mailbu speedzone. we could meet at the krispy kreme parking lot; it's fairly big, and right off the 60fwy. or the outer reaches of the costco or target parking lot, or we could meet at diamond plaza off the fullerton road exit on the 60 fwy and show up all the ricers there! it doesnt usually get crowded til about 630 or 7 pm, plenty of food options there as well..

chino hills. on highway 71 right at chino ave. on ramp/off ramp,there's a parking lot that they use for carpool commute.it's empty on weekend.about 200 cars can park there.after the meet if we want to have lunch then there's a restaurant about 1 mile from the parking lot.the name is "pho 99 noodle & grill" their specialty is PHO (beef noodle) but there chow-mein,rice plates among other choices.for those who like fast food.there's carl's jr and Mc donald right near by in the same parking lot.parking at the restaurants is big enough for 200+ cars.inside seating is for 95 peoples.but i talked to the manager, he said he can bring more tables/chairs and set up for 110 peoples.but we have to let him know 1 or 2 weeks ahead so he can close the restaurant for us.from malibu grand prix to here is about 8-10 mi. of freeway drive farther for those who come from la area.but it's very much on the way to the cruise so you're not losing anything.by the way the glendora ridge road cruise looks very tempting to me.i go along with that.SO, the only down side with this is no video games,kart racing and mini goft.but at the last meet we did not have those either.for those who want to do that.we can get after the cruise,right? again,this is just an other suggestion.let hear some opinions peoples...

I was driving home yesterday, passing SpeedZone and Ive notice a HUGE parking lot right next to it. That parking lot use to be Puente Hill Toyota, but they've moved. I was thinking thats a great place for the meet and its right next to SpeedZone too...
But the only thing is that I dunno if we can get access inside the parking lot. So haYanNoize, u say u got ways to get inside Speedzone, see if u can try to ask if that parking belongs to them. And see if we can barrow the lot and park our cars there for the meet.

I have noticed several business closing down around that area....why don't we have it at one of the abandoned parking lots? Ikea? Previous location of Cosco? (right across the street from the Nissan dealer) Mann theater? Toyota parking lot? (but i think it's gated up). Old AMC parking lot?

A couple suggestions on Glendora Mt. road.
If you go in the morning start at Baldy first and head West. If it is an evening drive then start in Glendora and head East to Baldy. Otherwise the sun will blind you in some of the turns. Most of the experienced racers will be heading the same direction.
I haven't been to the road since the fires and I'm not sure if they closed it yet. Most of the area already had burned from the fire over a year ago so it probably was not affected.
Also, the forest service usually closes this road in the winter. The road may be closed late Dec. I would advise checking it out with the ranger station before heading up there. Hopefully it is open because I love that road.

Racing and pacing and plotting the course.

I live in Upland, and I am about 10-15mins away from Mt. Baldy. This -4day weekend, I can definitely drive up there check the roads and see if they are open. I will try to get some information also from the Fire Department up there (forest rangers). I should post again with the findings either Sunday or Monday. Standby...

Also, with Mt. Baldy, I know a good area where we can park our G's. But, we definitely have to get there early to do this. I will also check the traffic and that parking space for us.

Silverwood Lake is really nice too...its off the 15fwy. There are some nice twists and turns. About, 20-30mins away from Upland. Standby, means that I will post up again soon for more information...hehehe.

Most of those empty lots along Castleton are fenced in. I doubt their insurance will let us on the property, if you can locate the owner.
The IKEA parking lot would be highly visible from the freeway, gee... would we want to be responsible for causing a slow down on the 60 ?

I'm game for just about anything, but since we've had 2 gatherings in the South Bay and 1 in Burbank, I think it's time to share the love with the SGV!
Maybe we do a two-parter, PART 1 - parking lot/location activity and PART 2 - cruise. Not everyone will be able to spend all day with the group, so I think it's important that we all at least get together for a few hours in a lot somewhere.

Ok...I just came back from Mt. Baldy. What a depressing cruise. Everything is burned down from the fires we had in October. As you reach the 5,000 elevation mark, it gets a lot better. Also, there are a lot of fallen rocks on the road as well. I would say, "ride with your own risk!"
I wish I had better news, but, we might need to look at other avenues.
