Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

Yea sure I can try to plan the resturant. So we gonna set to meet in City Of Industry in the IKEA parking lot. And do u guys want to eat before the cruise or after? And also there are two way to get up to the Crest. There is the front side by 210 / 2 hwy and there is the back side by the 15 fwy Ontario Mills.

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

Ricky I think we should go through the back cause I think there is less traffic. Is the road there as wide as the from the front at 210?

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

Here is the route map. THX for more info on the Angeles Crest hwy click here

We well start from the back side which is from the 15 fwy by Rancho Cucamonga/Ontario area.

We can rest @ Newcomb's Ranch Cafe.

Then continue head down from hwy 2, La Canada/Pasadena area.

The cruis will be a bit longer then the previous meet. But it will be a good cruise.

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

Oops ... noticed my name being brought up a couple of times. Doh! I haven't been checking this thread for a while, mainly because I'm NOT going to be able to make this meet. I'll more than likely still be up in the Bay area for X-mas with the families.

I'll still be more than happy to help out with the mapping. Some of you could also come with me and do a dry run after I'm done with the maps. Mainly to test out if the G35 NAV will match the routes generated by my mapping program. This way, NAV owners could program in the *custom* check points before they leave for the cruise and NOT get lost (good candidates for pack 'leaders')

p.s. Private me next time if help's needed.

Clint

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

Photo OP?
I was thinking of getting there a little early and trying to setup photo area near where people will be coming in to park, inside the lot. I thought it might be cool to have a shot of each person and their car. That way we can put faces to cars and screen names. What do guys think? Ed, Muku, Jedi, Ricky would this mess your plans for how you want things to go? One problem I could see with this idea is that right around 10 most people will be pulling in and I might create a line or back-up. Anyway if folks think it's a cool idea I'll happy to do it and if not I'll just walk around during the meet a get what I can get.

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

That sounds good, i dont mind...
And i thought of an idea for lunch. Since there will so many of us eating at a time, if we go to resturant it will take hours for everybody to get thieir food. I was thinking of buffet. How about Hometown Buffet? There is one near the meet about 5 mins away.
And one more suggestion, we need some traffic officer to direct traffic. Cuz when everyone is pulling out of the parking lot, the street that we're pulling to Gale is a busy street. So we need someone to direct/stop the traffic and let everyone out at one time. Cuz last I remember it was very hard for everyone to get out of the plaza.

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

hometown buffet is a great idea.jume right on it ricky.are you guys ever thinking twice about ikea parking lot ? traffic on gale is really sucks.i have hard time try to pull in and out by my self.not to mention alot of us doing it at the same time.as far as direct/stop traffic,i don't think we have the right to do that.so this could be a hugh problem for our meet.just a thought...

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

This is exactly why you guys should reconsider the City of Industry idea. Traffic will be a killer specially during lunch time. It's never easy to get out of the place.

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

Unfortunately, I must concur the fact that 'City of Industry' and especially the 'IKEA' area is a terrible spot for a meet with respect to traffic.

As Tinman said, I have a hard enough time by *myself*, as is, trying to pull out of the lot and merge into the typical weekend traffic on Gale. It doesn't help that Gale's a single lane street either. Also keep in mind the meet is durring the big X-mas weekend sales and Best Buy is right next door!?!? I was stuck in that lot for a good 35min. (again by myself) last year durring this time

On the other hand ... the defunct IKEA lot *is* a great place to park ... it is HUGE! Just my .02. Either way have a GREAT meet folks!!!

Re: DEC/JAN NEXT ENORMOUS MEET!

If u guys think its that place its hard to coming out then we'll park at the Puente Hills Mall parking lot then. Im pretty sure theres plenty of parking space there and plus the Hometown Buffet is right next to it.
And if its still a problem getting in and out, ill try to call up my friend whos a CHP, see if his busy that day so he can help us directing traffic.
Or we can always direct the traffic ourself, all u got to do u have one guy stand on the street to stop the traffic. And let us all out, only takes about less than a min for all the cars to come out.
Or ill try to contact the local police see if they could help us out.
