Re: VDC

VDC-Vehicle Dynamic Control...here's an overview from the Infiniti site.
A sudden change in surface consistency can affect your car's stability during evasive driving. Vehicle Dynamic Control* uses various sensors to help determine your steered path and keep you in control. If your vehicle begins to understeer (plow forward) or oversteer (fishtail), VDC applies appropriate brake pressure to individual wheels and/or reduces engine output to help keep your vehicle on its steered path.

*Infiniti VDC system is designed to help improve driving stability, but does not prevent accidents due to abrupt steering or by careless or dangerous driving techniques. Always drive safely.

Basically, it helps you when you start fish-tailing/skidding. Turning it OFF is less safe, but adds power. If you're gonna be racing, I recommend turning it OFF on the track. It will automatically enable itself again the next time you turn your car on.

Re: VDC

Steph, you remember when we went cruising with Kawika and you said you felt the grinding? That was the VDC kicking in to keep you from pushing through the turn. It pulsed the brakes on select wheels very quickly. I believe you may have also engaged the ABS that day too by the way you were driving!

The switch turns this function off and gives nearly complete control back to you. From the looks of that day, you may want to leave it on. I think it saved both our asses a couple times that cruise trying to keep up with the Krazy Hawaiian!

Re: VDC

Once, I turned off the VDC and from a stand still, I floored it on first gear while making a left turn and I started fish tailing. Just realized how much power this G thing has. Cool and Krazy experience.

Re: VDC

The first time I went into a parking lot, turned VDC off and started to practice, it was amazing the feel of true honest to goodness oversteer. After driving FWD cars like a Taurus and an Acura TL, this has been an amazing, challenging, and fun experience!
