BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
Got Rear-ended Today

Happy Holidays everyone -

It started as a typial Monday.
Got stuck at work.
Meeting ran late.
Traffic.

Then at a complete stop, this lady (see pic) slams into my baby! She goes, I didn't see u...COP was a witness!
I was at a complete stop and u couldn't see my brake lites?
Hello traffic wasn't moving!

It doesn't feel the same anymore.
Feels a little loose now.
I'll have to get an estimate. The lady was like, can we not report this to the insurance company? Get me an estimate for the bumper and let me know....

What do you guys and ladies think? I should file a claim with my insurance company to go after her insurance company right?

Bobby -

Re: Got Rear-ended Today

I'm sorry buddy! At least you had everything under control. When my front bumber got hit I was nowhere around so I have no idea who did it.

I usually opt for the insurance route, but it seems you can get a quote really fast for that. Hell, get a dealer quote. Ask to have an alignment and have everything checked out. My experience is that people will fold and let insurance take over if the cost is a lot. This doesn't look too bad, so I would be inclined to arrange something with a body shop to get some little scratches on my car fixed too...that is just me. Bottom line, do whatever makes you feel confortable and confident that your G is fixed right.

My service guy said he'll refer me to a body shop tomorrow.
He suggested the same thing, take it to the (dealership's) body shop! I'm going to call my insurance company tomorrow so they can appraise it...Thanks for your support man...My car just tuned 1 year old Nov 1 - UGH...Oh well sheit happens what to do...

Re: Got Rear-ended Today

If you know someone at a body shop, you could bypass the insurance and deal with her directly. Have her pay the body shop (at a slightly higher rate, and get some extra work done later (on her tab).
**Disclaimer: Not that I would do something like that...

Yo Bobby,

Sorry to hear about the "accident". Isn't your neck feeling kinda sore right about now?

Anyways...just tell her to give you some cash and get an aftermarket bumper. forget about getting it replaced...time to upgrade.

Re: Got Rear-ended Today

thanks for the advices guys...a lil neck strain...startin to feel just a bit there...LOL

the insurance company agreed to pay for "everything".
I'm scheduled to bring it in on the 29th. They'll need it for 3 days....It's not soo bad the more I look at it now...The adjuster agreed it needs to be replaced...I saw a new "White Z" with front bumper damage at this body shop.

Anyone been to "superior body shop" in San Carlos, CA?

Barry Bonds takes his cars there...Pics of him everywhere!

Is the insurance going to cover the "flood damage"?

Happy Holidays!

Re: Got Rear-ended Today

I had my bumper thoroughly smashed by some hit and run idiot (see post in sedan general). The bumper itself runs about $280 or so and it was around $260 to paint and install).

About how fast was she going when she hit you? Mine has a huge smashed spot just from getting hit in my complex paraking lot. I'm posting pics tomorrow so you can compare,

Sorry to hear about your G. I know the exact feeling, but at least you know who did it.

The place I'm going to in Vegas specializes in bumper replacement and repairs. They only need the car for one day. They actually paint, sand and buff the bumper and install it in all in one shot.

Re: Got Rear-ended Today

Sorry to hear that Bobby. Looks like a new rear bumper should do the trick here.

Re: Got Rear-ended Today

Yep new bumper...I took a closer look at it and she pushed the bumper pretty hard! The trunk lid has a gap in it.
I think she hit me at 5-10mph. Traffic was stopped.

I asked the insurance company what kind of rental i'm getting. Told them I don't want to be stuck with a Geo Metro or Corolla for the next few days...The nice thing is when I park in the street, I'm going to just not going to care what happens....ooops i'm sorry did u park to close to me where I can't back out...LOL...

Damn only 1 day? Check the work on that...Make sure you look at it in the sunlight...U know some body shops do a crappy job and u can totally tell the paint job is way off!

Re: Got Rear-ended Today

Actually the bumper was just repainted before it was hit. I had a few people inspect it pretty closely and it was a damn good job for only one day. This shop only does bumpers and has pretty quick turn around. It was one day to paint and I had to go back when the paint was cured for sanding and buffing. Most body shop that keep your car for 3 or more days for minor repairs let you car sit, collecting dust and take no more than one day to do the actualy repair/repaint.

The nice part of it is that I can see the bumper and how the paint is OFF the car this time. If there is anything I'm not happy with they can fix it before they install it.
