Yes, I'm the one that got the 80 (on my doors). Hann said I am the only one that has it so far! I agree with you, I am considering putting it on my windshield. It really cuts the heat and is legal.
I put 40 on the rear and backseat windows.

Tint on the entire windshield is illegal in all 50 states. Some states let you tint a sunshade strip a few inches from the top of the winshield.

Front windows, at any level of tint, are illegal in California, doesn't matter if it's 5, 50, 80, or 99.

ryoken,
You are right, can't put anything on the windshield legally.
Let me be a little clearer. The stuff I have on my front doors is legal (for the doors), as the Calif. law allows certain clear transparent material that meets certain light transmittance specifications. If someone were to put this film on their windshield, it would be a lot harder for a cop to notice than all of the tints people put on their front doors illegally! You would be taking less of a chance with this on your windshield than you would be taking with any tint on your front door. From all of the posts I see on this board, most people don't seem to worried about tinting their front doors!.

gsg...
So it is you Well last time I talked to Hann...he said he doesn't have enough of the 80 left to do a front windshield Convince him to get some more!! He said it was some prototype film so he wasn't sure of availability of it. I'd love to check out the 80 some time though, where are you located?

Ryoken,
as gsg has said, I am well aware that tinting the front windshield is illegal. I also am aware that my front door windows being tinted w/ the 40 film is illegal. but I guess it's a chance I'm willing to take for the heat rejection at this current moment.

Re: Best Place for Tint in Socal

This is true. I moved to CA from TX with a 92 Accord, and had, I think, 38% on my front windows and 18% on the rear sides and rear. Texas DOT legal, didn't learn about the CA laws until I had the car for awhile here. The DMV inspected the car, and I even got a speeding ticket in it once. No one ever said anything about the front tint. Of course, it was a stock Accord, nothing ricey to attract the cop's attention.. except for that time I blasted onto the freeway at 85 right in front of one. Oops.

I'd be interested in trying out 80 on my front windows. My understanding of the CA law is that, once you tint your rear window (therefore impeding the view from your rearview mirror) that you are not allowed to tint the front side windows, as it would impede your view of the side view mirrors. At least, that's how they word it. I'm sure the real reason is so the cops can see into the cars they stop.
