It's nice, sort of a mid-level suburban area. I don't know that I would consider Vegas and Buffalo as Summerlin, although it is right off of Summerlin Pkwy. Do you have any specific criteria as to what you are looking for in a neighborhood? Are you buying or renting? Where will you be working? Is the commute an issue? I really don't know what else to say other than it's nice, as I don't know exactly what kind of info you are looking for.

I'll be renting from 6 to 9 months.
I'll be commuting to S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson for 6 weeks, then to Village Center Circle and W. Charleston BLVD. for the remainder of my stay.
I googled the distance to S. Eastern Ave. and it came out to 22 miles, so I'm thinking a commute of 25 to 35 minutes??
Thanks for your help

Anyway, like a said before it is your run of the mill mid-level suburban area. Plenty of daily shopping needs and dining very close by, and there is some higher level shopping (clothes and stuff) in Boca Park off of Charleston and Rampart. It's a little cooler in Summerlin due to elevation (it all feels the same after 110 though) and in the winter will occasionally see snow. As far as age demographics go, you will pretty much get a wide variety of ages as well as ethnicities in just about any neighborhood out here.
If you decide eventually to buy though you might want to look in another area. There are a few neighborhoods in the vicinity (1-2 mile radius) that although are not bad areas, are not exactly doing anything for property values. Head a little more southwest or a little more northwest and you will find properties that hold their value much better (as well as they can now anyway) as it is considered a more desirable area. Let me know when the time comes and I can help you out with that, as I am in the business on the finance side. If you have any other questions regarding the valley feel free to let me know. I've been here over 15 years and know the place like the back of my hand.

My commute can run upwards of 1 hour+ depending on time of day and traffic conditions. Of course I live in the outermost NW portion of the valley and commute to the SE. Once you start commuting to Village Center your commute will be about 15min or so.

I just talked to my realtor and decided to go with a 2 bed/2 bath condo for $900/month in Summerlin off of Vegas drive and Buffalo. It's 1260 sq/ft, has an attached garage, and brand new appliances
Can't wait to move in!
