New Clutch... FINALLY!

As most of you may know I've been needing a clutch pretty bad since our Dec 27th Meet at Rotary Xecret in Rowland Heights. Well much to my surprise, that same clutch has lasted me through many more months and a few more meets, including a trip to LACR and this past Fridays Willow Springs event. It had to happen some time and it did. Sunday night in celebration of David's (NismoV35) Birthday a few of us went out to Oiwake in Little Tokyo. Upon our departure (since I was parked in a puddle) I decided it would be "cool" to dump the clutch (again) and peel outta there. Then on the streets of Downtown L.A., David, LadyG35 and I were racing around, laying rubber where we could. Eventually my car stopped leaving patches on the street and started leaving patches of clutch smoke in the air... Mmmm, love that smell... We make it out to the *Valley* Starbucks in Woodland Hills and stop for a while. I figured I could just let it cool a bit and I'd be fine to drop off Prodi_G and make it home. Well, I did manage to drop him off, but that's about as far as my clutch wanted to go. I started my approach homeward and only got a mile and a half away before I was no longer rolling downhill. It is now 3 am monday morning, I still have a little alcohol on my breath as an LAPD patrol car pulls up. Fortunately for me the smell of the melted clutch (understatement) over powered any scent possible. I told them help was on the way and they drove off. Infiniti Roadside towed my car to my dad's, who's house was right down the street and then towed to Performance Nissan during business hours. I am on my way now to pick up my G with it's nearly new Nismo clutch and flywheel which I bought off Jeff of Performance Nissan (Mahalo Jeff). I'll see you guys Saturday at the BBQ with my "New Clutch".

Re: New Clutch... FINALLY!

In actuallity my stock clutch was a beast. So in comparison the engagement feel is much lighter on the new Nismo clutch. On the other hand the disengagement is much different. The Nismo wants to jump out at you. Takes a little getting used to but not long at all. All in all the combo clutch and flywheel makes my G much more responsive.

Hmmmm damn KAWIKA...what's that smell this time...ohhhh it's the clutch not your fart lol...Well I finally burned my clutch for a few seconds on Wed...I was a lil buzzed trying to go up California Street and Grant...for those of you who doesn't know SF...that is where the Bank of America bulding is and the entrance way to CHINATOWN...Damn that shot of Hennessy was good and that Corona, and that Long Island...I over-rev'd in park...and went hmmmm what's that smell...! The clutch feels fine...I'm just worried if the damage to the clutch was minimal...After all this is my first stick and sports car...DAMN SF HILLS!

Kawika - how much was the new clutch? Did it put a dent in your wallet

David - HAPPY BELATED BDAY! I'll have adrink for you in Vegas tonight...COME OUT
