G35 SNOW TIRES...
G35 SNOW TIRES...
Could anyone please recommend high performance snow tires for the G35 Coupe with 17" wheels? I've been looking online but couldn't find any solid tires that fit the coupe's dimensions.
Let me know guys! The G35 rocks!

I'm looking for tires that perform well in rain, snow and ice (or as well as could be expected for a rear-wheel drive car). They don't need to perform excellently in dry weather, as I'll keep my current tires.
Thanks!

Re: G35 SNOW TIRES...
I had researched this some months ago and I looked in The Tire Rack. I think I was going to have to buy Bridgestone Blizzaks for the back and Michelin Alpin Pilots for the front. Neither company made both front and back sizes.

Do you remember the prices for the fronts and rears? Were they the same width as stock or thinner? Thanks!

Re: G35 SNOW TIRES...
Hi, I have a 6MT with the Michelin Pilots, and I'm wondering how they'll handle winter driving if I'm able to avoid snow. I live in Baltimore, MD where we get a moderate amount of snow each winter, and I plan to drive my Dodge truck if there's snow or threat of snow, and leave my G at home.
I tend to drive moderately, and rarely push the car to is handling limits anyway. So will the Pilots otherwise perform well in cold wet winter weather if I avoid snow?

Re: G35 SNOW TIRES...
For snow tires, the HIGHER the profile of the tire it is, the easier it is for the tire to do its job and shed snow and ice. Lo pro tires are the worst kind of tires for snow work, which is why I'm curious as to how people did last winter with snow tires.

Hi bro, I've got 225/55/17 Yokohama Winter AVS snows on Enkei CDR-9's for our winter up here in Ontario, Canada.
They perform well, and are not noisy.

I've got Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22's on ASA KA-3 rims.
Front tires: 225/50VR17, rims: 17x7.5 5-114 ET35
Rear tires: 235/50HR17, same rims.
Everything fits and works great. See the Tirerack.

Hey donpalombella,
The rear tire size you chose result in almost 1/2" smaller outer diameter of tires than the 18" factory tires. Your speedometer and gear ratio will be off a little. I'm not sure if this will cause a problem with your VDC and traction control since the system checks for a speed difference between front and rear wheels. You might want to consider 225/55R17's instead for the rears which is a nearly perfect match to the factory tires.
Also, if you would like to compare the performance of different winter tires, there is a comparison in the November 2003 issue of Consumer Reports. A summary of the results of the comparison can be read here:
