Brembo squeaking?
Brembo squeaking?
With only about 100 miles on the odometer, I'm noticing my brakes have a tendency to squeak at light pressures of breaking. This squeak seems to occur most often in bumper to bumper traffic when the brakes are applied at light pressures repeatedly. Does my brakes need to break in? Or is this common with all Brembo brake systems?
Re: Brembo squeaking?
Welcome to Brembo's!!!!
They have really soft pads that will easy braking will make some noise.

Bed your brakes, you should not have this problem.

Re: Brembo squeaking?
I am up to 500 miles and mine do it too, but only at very low speeds(<5 mph). I lnow it is the pads. I actually believe it is the opposite that the pads are more aggressive(i.e. harder). they are definitely metallic pads by the sound.

Re: Brembo squeaking?
This problem has been brought up on all G35 sites. My dealership replaced the pads on my G at 3000 miles because they were still squeaking. The new pads started squeaking after about 500 miles. I don't agree with this being normal for a $40,000 car to have squeaky breaks, Brembos or no Brembos.. I have contacted Infiniti Consumer Affairs but have not been notified of what they plan on doing.
Re: Brembo squeaking?
I think its caused by brakedust buildup.. See how bad it gets on your wheels? It's probably covered on the rotor and pads.. that could cause the squeal...

One more time for the people that must have missed it.
B-E-D YOUR BRAKES! This is a common problem with high performance brakes. Read up on this, do a search on this forum. Hell, check out www.brembo.com also.

Re: Brembo squeaking?
Quite right - bedding is critical. See this from Brembo:
Should new discs and pads be bedded in and if so, how?
The answer is yes, for optimum performance, any time different friction materials or discs are introduced, a bedding procedure should be carried out.
While the vehicle is stationary, pump brakes to ensure a firm pedal.
Drive the vehicle cautiously to test fit and function.
The brakes should be smooth, with no vibrations, judder, etc.
Drive the vehicle to a remote area and perform at least 30 brake applications of 3-second duration. Use light/medium deceleration with varying starting speeds. Leave at least ½ mile between each brake application.
The purpose of this procedure is to gradually increase the temperature in the components without inducing thermal shock, and to mate the brake pad and disc friction surfaces.
After the repeated stops, drive the vehicle for several miles with little or no braking in order to adequately cool the components.
After the above process is completed, the system is ready for normal use.
When the system achieves elevated brake temperatures for the first time, a slight increase in pedal travel and pedal effort may occur. After this first "fade" and proper cooling, the system will maintain its optimum performance at all temperatures.

Re: Brembo squeaking?
I don't get the brake squeaking issue. I think it's because when I wash my car and I am spraying the Eagle One A2Z All Wheel & Tire Cleaner, a good amount of the formula gets sprayed onto the rotors and all the dust and dirt (which causes the squeaking) gets washed off.
Re: Brembo squeaking?
afropuff is 100% correct guys... Bedding your brakes will stop them from squealing (at all speeds)
But there is a known issue with the brembos squealing at extremely low speeds w/ light pressure, actually its more like a loud HOWL, not a squeal.
This will go away after ~1000 miles
I havent heard mine howl since break-in, and now i am @ the 7,500 mile mark
