Big news! I have posted previously on my "range war" with Infinti Canada regarding the brake wear problem. I sent some nasty letters to the head office and copied the world in the process. On Friday of last week, I got a call from our local dealership service manager (Calgary, Alberta) advising that in a national teleconference call last Wednesday, brakes on G35s will be retoractively warranteed for 3 years or 60,000 km. (36,000 miles) He told me that I would be receiving a letter to this effect in a few weeks along with a cheque reimbursing me for the cost my front brake pad replacement. To me, a great bit of news and quite a turnaround from their written position of only a couple of weeks ago. Happy that they have capitualted but why did it take so much aggravation and misery to get them to do the right thing.....forget it, I already know the answer.

 

That would be sweet for the usa....?

When you received the letter, post it for us. I will probaly do the same here in the US if my brake worn out early.

Hope that happens in the USA!! Had some warranty work done at 7,300 miles. 40% front & 60% rear remaining. That equates to a life of 12,000 and 18,000 respectivally. Seems strange that whatever I bring the car in for, they check the breaks. Seems like they are getting some kind of database together.

 

I was at the dealership yesterday talking to the Service Manager. I
mentioned that Infiniti Canada has begun covering the brake pads
and rotors. He told me that he just returned from Infiniti USA meeting
in Las Vegas for Service Managers. He said that Infiniti would be
announcing something similar within 1 to 2 months!!!!! Oh boy.
I mentioned that I would love to get a rebate for the new pads
and rotors I had installed last week. Well....That is something I
have to take up with Infiniti itself, not the dealership. So those
of us who have already been soaked for break work cannot
get money back from the dealership, we must go after corporate
Infiniti. Oh well............There is some hope!

By the way I didn't have the issue - I live in philly. This was posted on edmunds by someone other than me. I guess this is great newa for you guys who need the brakes or the cash back but I don't have a brake problem. 15k with no problems. Slight squeak started to occur about once a week or so. Will be checked next week. If I am scoring the rotors already I will expect full replacement without hassle or I will have a panic attack on the top of a car in the dealership showroom.
