replacement brake pads issue

I've noticed in looking for replacement brake pads for the G35X, that a number of ceramic pads say "no VDC." Does anyone know why some pads say no VDC and others don't and is there an issue with using Kevlar pads. I've had a couple of sets of EBC pads on my Audi A4 and loved them! EBC has a listing for the 350Z, but not the G35.

EBC does make front pads for the G. I purchased a set a few months ago, but have not installed them yet. I don't remember the part number - but, It was the "greenstuff" type. Check their site: http://www.ebcbrakes.com

Re: replacement brake pads issue

to ryoken and typhoon - my question was not about the availability of the pads. EBC, Axxis, Bosch, Satisfied, etc. all make kevlar and/or ceramic pads for the G35/350Z; some front pads only. Some of them, like EBC, either don't list the pads for the G35 (but do for the 350Z base, which fit the G35) or list them, but say "no VDC." The no VDC warning is also listed by some swaybar manufacturers. Apparently, it has to do with the software settings of the VDC unit, which is set up for the properties of the OEM pads, tires, and suspension. The question is, what specific properties would cause the manufacturer to decide to say not with VDC; exactly what would the impact be on actual driving; and can something be done to fix it? I've emailed Infiniti and not gotten any response.

That I don't know. You will have to get that answer from the brake pad manufacturer or Infiniti. Good luck!!!!!!

Re: replacement brake pads issue

EBC DOES have a rear pad replacement now. I have a 04' Coupe 6MT with brembos. The rear pads are more expensive, probably because they're more rare. Part #'s are as follows:
Front - DP21644
Rear - DP2197/2

Please, do a search for Tirerack's # and talk to Jim x 364. No PM's!

Re: replacement brake pads issue

That's for Brembo's. They're supposed to come out with the regular rear pad soon.

I've not heard of aftermarket pads causing problems with VDC. I know that a big-brake upgrade kit can mess with ABS. (Stoptech has info about this on their website.)

The suspension parts sounds strange, as well. Maybe it prevents the body from rolling enough for the gyro sensors to detect a problem? I don't know. The best bet would be to contact the aftermarket parts manufacturer and ask them why they've labeled their products "no VDC."

Re: replacement brake pads issue

I think most companies are labling products to be non-vdc safe to just save their asses if someone gets into some sort of acciednt and tries to blame X company that the VDC operatated incorrectly because of X product. Most of nismo's stuff states that it's not to be used on a VDC equipped car.. Well good luck finding that here in the states. I fail to see how a brake pad or a sway bar can effect VDC. VDC just monitors the rotation of the wheels, and applies brakes to a slipping wheel , while cutting throttle. So if and when you do put X part on your VDC equipped vehicle, you can't blame the X company and it saves their asses if something gets screwed up..
