Re: Brakes and Good News?

I would imagine they will be coming up with a better wearing pad now, or maybe they already have, that would be the logical thing to do!

Re: Brakes and Good News?

Wanted to let you know I just got my brake warranty letter in the mail from Infiniti USA. It covers all sedans + AT coupes for 3 yrs/36,000 miles. I had recently emailed Infinity through their websites asking for enlightenment on the brake warranties...don't know if this triggered my letter or if it was just coincedence.
Incidentally, I had asked my service dept. about brake warranties on G35's last week, and they said they had no idea (John @ Infiniti of Columbus).

Re: Brakes and Good News?

g4ian... i think it was probably due to your letter and other people calling/writing. strength in numbers. i got my brake warranty letter in the mail today and i never contacted/complained to infiniti. thank you to those of you who did!

i just had my rears checked today for squealing and my service guy only told me about the TSB for rears and replaced them. not a word about the brake warranty.

Re: Followup

UCLA would you mind giving me the phone number or e-mail address. I am having problems with my brakes. The dealer has checked them out twice say they are fine, but they make this awful squealing sound when I stop. I am angry they aren't fixing it. You pay 38K for a car you expect it to not have strange noises coming from it.

texanbrat,
Did you not get the letter from Infiniti about the brakes? Here's their number, 1-800-947-9115

Re: Followup

That's the number for the brake replacement warranty for early wear. That warranty doesn't do anything for brake squealing. There is a TSB out for brake squeel on the rear brakes, but nothing about the fronts. Technically, no, there's nothing wrong with brakes that squeel, it's just an annoying sound made by some pad materials on the metal rotors. However, many people are getting their rear pads replaced for that problem.

Since your problem isn't related to the brake warranty, try calling Infiniti Consumer Affair's general number, 800-622-6200. Have your VIN ready when you call. (They need to know which car you're having issues with, after all.)

Re: Followup

so are people still having that rear brake squeal TSB done? i thought that TSB went the way of the dodo.

I called Infiniti of Tustin, CA about this. They told me that the current TSB is no longer valid since replacing the pad does not really solve the problem. Infiniti is aware of this problem and is looking for a more permanent solution. Till then, they consider it as normal.

here is the thread to which i'm referring.

Brakes!

Just got off the phone with my service advisor. I wanted to schedule an appt. to have my front pads and rotors replaced. Only problem is that the front pads are on backorder! She didn't say when, just that she would call me when they came in.....

Re: Brakes!

How do you know they need to be replaced, did they check it out? Wonder why the backorder, could that mean the replacements are a different pad? Hmmmm

Re: Brakes!

When I was in for my 15,000 mile service they told me that the rotors needed replacing and the pads were at 3mm. I did not do it then because I wanted to get more wear out of my pads....
