Brakes and Good News?

Read this over on F.A. Anyone else encounter this at their dealership? Good news if it is true.

"Hey all. Yesterday I took my sedan in for an oil change at 18000 miles and was told that my rotors needed to be turned and my pads changed. My service manager at Infiniti of Huntsville then informed me that effective as of 10/24/03, changing of the pads and rotors will be covered by warranty for 3 yrs / 36000 miles. I don't know if this applies to the coupe also, or if it is only for my local dealership, but I was under the impression that this mandate is for all dealerships. Just wanted to let everyone know! " copied from 'infiniti23' post on F.A.

Take care,

too bad that we have to think that freshalloy is an online thing and tons of people could be (and probably are) lying or making extensions to the truth. you'd like to think that people are being honest. i've seen a lot of BS on this forum alone. some who have been called out, and some who don't know they've been found out (heh, i'll keep that to myself). oh well.

Re: Brakes and Good News?

I had new pads and rotors put on 2 weeks ago. I told the service
manager that Intiniti Canada has started covering them under
warrenty. He told me that he just came back from a service managers
meeting in Las Vegas where he learned that in 1 to 2 months
Infiniti USA would announce something similar. He told me to keep
checking back to find out when it becomes effective. I would need
to negociate directly with Infiniti about a rebate for the money I had
just spent. New work would be under warrenty, but since I already
had the work performed, Infiniti whould make a rebate to me.

Followup

After having to pay for my brakes with less than 15K miles and getting a lot of "nope, sorry" from the dealer and pretty much giving up on the idea that I would get my money back, I wrote an email to infiniti (via their website,) and I explained to them that I felt my brakes wore out a little too quickly. I even told them I didn't expect them (infiniti corporate) to refund me (since it was the dealer who I paid,) but I just wanted to voice my complaint.

I just got off the phone with a lady from Infiniti who just told me that if I faxed her a copy of my service reciept that she would refund me for the brakes!
Pretty sweet! I'm happy. She said after I fax it, I should get my money back in 10 days. While I'm still concerned about the wear rate of my brakes, I hope Infiniti comes up with a solution before I have to change my brakes again, not to mention I'm pretty damn impressed with the speed and quality of the customer service I just experienced. There were no questions beyond, address, VIN and exact miles. Woohoo, I'm a happy guy!

Re: Followup

Why is it that StudlyMobile calls and infiniti has no idea about the situation and UCLAjeff calls and gets a refund. How can a company be so inconsistent. I called a month ago and they flat out told me that no one has had their brakes repaired for free. But yet, some people on this and other forums have stated that Infiniti consumer affairs has replaced brake pads and rotors for free. I don't get it. Now people say they are warranted in Canada. Just doesn't make sense.

Re: Followup

Well actually, you misread my post. I got the call from infiniti about the refund because of my EMAIL. I did try to call them once, also via a number from their website, and I got the same reply that StudlyMobile got. They told me that only if the dealer thinks that it is somehow a warranty issue and file some report with them they will investigate it. Well, I then wrote that email and I definately got a different response.

Re: Followup

Well I got my check in the mail today.
So count me as one satisifed consumer. The response was quick and completely painless to my complaint.
I'm definately going to write another email to infiniti, this time to compliment them on their great customer service.
