Coupe Rear Tire Size and VDC - actual experiences

Coupe Rear Tire Size and VDC - actual experiences
Well, I measured the front and rear wheel wells on the Coupe. The front and back wheel wells are virtually identical. When viewing the coupe from the side, you can see that the front wheel well has more room than the rear because of the taller rear tires. Fronts are 25.9" and rears 26.7".
Many people have posted, and from what I have read I agree, that you have to stay around 26.7" in the rear or your VDC and ABS will "go crazy". However, as I have posted in another post, most people seem to NOT stagger their rear tire size, but actually have a tire around 26" or less in height in the rear, which should "in theory" throw off the VDC.
Has anyone actually had VDC problems because of their smaller rear tire size?

Yes I had problem before running 275/30/18 on the rears. The VDC SLIP light will come on like crazy. Keep within diameter spec of the OEM tires since the comp was set for that diameter.

Question then. Your "rides" section lists that you are running 245/35R19 and 285/30R19, which put's your rears around 25.7" where the stocks are 26.7" in the rear.
I guess that's my question is that you are *not* running staggered heights (245/35R19 in front [25.7" tall] and 285/30R19 [25.7" tall]) but running same heights front and rear. And you are not experiencing any VDC problems running these heights?
[but were experiencing VDC probs running 275/30R18 tires which are only 24.5" tall - [I can see why you would there - 2" less than stock.]

Yup that's right. When I had my old rims on that were 18x10 on the rear, I was running 275/30/18. This was a 2" difference from the original. You definitely should not go over the 1" difference. With that being said, the current setup on my rears are 285/30/19 which is a 1" difference from stock, but I have not run into any problems *yet* with this setup. I even tested it on the auto-x track and curvy mountian roads. The VDC came up at the right times.
The reason why I went with 285/30/19 is what they had left in stock and I got them for an awesome price ($190 ea) cuz no one would buy them.

Well, I had one of my Infiniti techs check into it more. I just wanted to know Infinit or Nissan's take on it. He called in like they were going to trick a car out for the upcoming fair. The Tech from Infiniti said as long as you stay within a +-5% you should be fine. So basically he said there is alot of flexibility and range before VDC or ABS is effected. He said something like it's really bad camber that really can effect it (changing tire height).
So +-5% and good alignment and you should be fine.
