Brake Service covered!

A post just made over on Freshalloy has great news for those of us with auto sedans and auto coupes - Infiniti is apparently starting a program to cover brake and rotor repairs/replacement for 3 years/36K after the date of sale!

It also apparently covers getting reimbursed for repairs and replacements already made to rotors and pads.

I am going to be looking for this in my mailbox!

Here is the post by SSTuner (thanks SS!)

<blockquote><font class="small">In reply to:</font><hr>

Received a letter today from Infiniti Consumer Affairs Dept, in which they are launching a program to provide brake maintenance on our G35 Sedan or automatic tranmission equipped G35 Coupe for 3 years from original in-service date or 36000 mile, at no cost.

This brake maintenance program covers brake pad and/or brake rotor replacement (or turning as appropriate) performed by the local Infiniti dealership (only) when required because of wear during the program period.

I will try to get the letter scanned and posted tonight.

<hr></blockquote>

Re: Brake Service covered!

I took my car to Infiniti of Tustin in So Cal I paid $500 to have the front rotors and pads replaced. They called a week later and said they would be refunding me the $500 by check in the mail.

Re: Brake Service covered!

I just got off the phone with Infiniti Consumer Affairs - that news is official and there is such a program.

The only question that I have now is what kind of repairs (prior and in the future) are covered by the plan. I expect to have an answer from ICA in 1-2 days.

So - great news for North American owners of 2003 and 2004 automatic transmission G35's!

Re: Brake Service covered!

today i received a letter from infiniti consumer affairs (note: i didn't call or email them). it had this part underlined...

"<font color=blue>infiniti is launching a program to provide brake maintenance (as detailed below) on your G35 sedan or automatic transmission equipped G35 coupe for 3 years from the original in-service date or 36,000 miles on your odometer, whichever occurs first, at no charge to you. this program is only available through an infiniti dealership.</font color=blue>"

it also included a postcard that you would send in if you had your rotors/brakes replaced (or rotors turned), giving you reimbursement for prior repair.

this morning, i brought my G in for rear brake squealing and my dealer replaced those pads free of charge (it was a TSB for '03). today was an awesome day for my G.

p.s. i am a <font color=red>US G35</font color=red>.

Re: Brake Service covered!

Only AT equipped coupe? I guess the Brembos aren't having brake/rotor life problems?

Re: Brake Service covered!

Probably has something to do with cost and PR value. My guess is the automatic brakes cost much less to fix then the Brembos. Plus, I'm also guessing that there are much more auto G35s out there than manuals (guessing by the usual auto to manual numbers in America).

Re: Brake Service covered!

There aren't any reported problems with Brembo's to this point. (There aren't that many Brembo-equipped cars percentage wise in the G35 population.)

This brake warranty is discussed over here:
Front brakes being replaced under warranty

Re: Brake Service covered!

The letter doesn't specifically mention front or rear, it only excludes the Brembo brakes. Front and rear are both covered, pads and rotors. Of course, it's their discretion whether to turn or replace the rotors.

Re: Brake Service covered!

guess infiniti ain't got no love for the 6MT owners.

all i have to say...is if my brembos go out under 36k miles and they won't replace them for free, i'm gonna lose it on someone!
