Question about tire roar on 05 Cpe w/ sprt pkg
I switched to the Avons and they sound like a freight train! I had the crappy RSAs before and they didn't make a sound. The more aggressive the tread, the worse the noise and the directional tires also seem to be noisier. All the early Coupes have the feathering problem with the lack of camber adjustment and your tires will most likely feather. There is no solution other than getting a softer rubber to lessen the noise but it will wear out faster and affect handling. The early Coupes are notorious for front end issues, paint, and brakes. If you can live with these problems, it is a great car.
This tire roar, etc. is the same problem that the 350Z's have. Nissan initially did try to address it on the Z's, but there is now a class action law suit about these tire issues on the Z's. I don't understand why the G's have not become part of the suit as they have the same tire problems.
My G coupe is an '03 and I have experienced tire roar on the front tires and rapid tire wear on the rears - with the 18" Pilot Sports. With 42K miles on the car I'm on my second set of front tires and third set of rears!

Okay, you guys are depressing me. I so wanted this to be my perfect commuter car. I drive about 60% hwy and the rest is fairly smooth 2 lane back roads with very little stop and go. It appears this tire roar may be quit common. Since this is the only coupe I've driven, I can't really make any comparison's yet. I will be driving some more for comparison sake, but if they all exhibit the roar, I don't think I could tolerate that all the time for 25K miles or so per year.
What a shame, otherwise the Coupe is such a great car. I also checked on the cost of 19" replacement tires. Looks like around $1,300 per set not including alignment. Does that sound about right to you.

21k and my rears are almost at the wear bars...worn in the inside more
I have the stock Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 19"s
the fronts seem to be wearing evenly tho...definitely not as worn as my rears
Front: 35-40%
Rear: 20%
